There’s something powerful about seeing fathers—dads, granddads, uncles—moving side by side with their kids. It’s the kind of picture that makes you think about legacy, about love, and about the quiet power in showing up, day after day, for the next generation. That’s the heart behind Memphis’s newest community initiative, and it’s one that every parent, every child, and every neighbor should know about.
On a sunny Saturday morning, August 23, 2025, Tom Lee Park on Riverside Drive will come alive with the first-ever Fatherhood Strollers Club Walk—an event born from the vision of Fathers First Memphis, an organization championing dads in our city. More than a walk, this is a call to every father figure to lace up, load up the stroller, and discover how even a few miles on the riverfront can bring families closer, spark new friendships, and build a stronger, healthier community.
Antonio Harvey, Co-Founder of Fathers First, has a way of putting fatherhood into words that stick with you:
“Fatherhood is more than a role—it’s a relationship.”
He’s right. And in a world where busy schedules, work demands, and digital distractions pull dads in every direction, this event is a reminder that being present matters—not just for the kids, but for the fathers themselves.
It’s for everyone: Dads, grandfathers, uncles—any father figure is welcome. Children of all ages are invited, from infants riding comfortably in strollers to big kids walking alongside.
It’s about community: The club is a place to swap stories, share advice, and help each other through the ups and downs of parenting.
It promotes health and wellness: With gentle group walks, dads model healthy habits and get moving with the people who matter most.
It’s for connection: Away from screens and routines, fathers get uninterrupted, quality time with their children.

What’s more, the Fatherhood Strollers Club doesn’t end with one walk. It’s an ongoing series—an open invitation for dads to keep gathering, keep learning, and keep supporting one another through the joys and challenges of fatherhood.
Because in strengthening our fathers, we strengthen our families. And strong families build strong communities.
Fathers First is more than just a nonprofit—it’s a movement. Through workshops, events, and advocacy, it helps dads be actively present, equipped, and empowered in their children’s lives. When fathers thrive, kids thrive. And when our kids thrive, Memphis finds its stride toward a brighter future.
If you’re a dad or know one who could use a little extra support—or if you’re just ready to celebrate the fathers stepping up and showing up—come out to Tom Lee Park on August 23rd. Walk a mile with us. Start a new tradition. Let’s build healthier families, together.
