For so long, you have stood watch over Memphis.
You have prayed over its neighborhoods, counseled its families, wept with its mourners, and rejoiced with its born again.
You have been tireless in your calling—a shepherd, a mentor, a spiritual parent, and a beacon of hope.
Yet, even the strongest shepherd can grow weary. The challenges—crime, division, heartbreak, disappointment—seem unending. Too often, your own well-being is sacrificed as you pour yourself out for others.
Today, the invitation is for you.
Not to serve, but to be served.
Not to lift, but to be lifted.
Not to encourage, but to receive encouragement.
The One Memphis Pastors & Leaders Prayer Summit 2025 is your afternoon.

Pastor Henry and Lady Lorre Lavender, Executive Directors of One Memphis CDC and pastors of Living Life in Victory Church, felt the ache in our city. Recalling their journey, they shared:
“We saw the need right here in our city for unity, for peace, and for real change. When the mayor cried out for help—from law enforcement and clergy—we knew it was time to answer the call. That’s how One Memphis was born: out of a desire to bring healing and hope, bringing everyone under one roof, interceding in prayer for our city…to change the narrative of Memphis from one of pain to one of purpose, hospitality, and love.”

As the Lavenders reminded us, the work the Lord calls us to can be lonely. But Jesus never sent his disciples out alone. He always brought them together—training, encouraging, building a team to share both the burden and the blessing.
Scripture assures us:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
(Galatians 6:9, KJV)

We were never meant to do this work alone—a truth Jesus himself modeled as he brought twelve very different disciples together and launched the greatest movement on earth. God’s promise rings true:
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Let us answer Jesus’ prayer for his Church—a prayer for togetherness, not isolation.
