Anne Backus is a dedicated community advocate running for State Representative in Tennessee's 33rd district. With a background as a retired Y-12 project manager and an active volunteer, Anne is committed to addressing key issues such as public education, affordable healthcare, and community safety. Her campaign is anchored by the values of honesty, transparency, and neighborly support, reflecting her deep roots in Anderson County.
Anne's life has been marked by a strong sense of community service, inspired by her parents who were active volunteers. After earning a degree in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University, she moved to Anderson County and worked at the Y-12 Plant for 33 years while raising three daughters. In her retirement, Anne continues to give back by tutoring youth in math, volunteering at her church, and serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the Anderson County Juvenile court.
Her involvement extends to social advocacy as well, being the founder and co-chair of PFLAG’s Oak Ridge Chapter and a member of the Anderson County NAACP. Anne's campaign emphasizes grassroots support to lay the groundwork for a winning election in 2024, aiming to bring the people's voice back into the government.
