Overview: Global street dance competition, Red Bull Dance Your Style, returns on March 25th, kicking off its eight U.S. qualifier line-up in Memphis
Red Bull Dance Your Style is making a highly anticipated return to Memphis on March 25th, as the first of eight U.S. qualifiers at The Crosstown Concourse. Celebrating Memphis’ iconic contribution to street dance, the qualifier will uplift the distinct dance culture of the South through showcasing dance styles from Jookin' to Bounce.
This Red Bull Dance Your Style qualifier will be a tribute to all things Memphis, hosted by the Queen of Memphis Jookin’ Ladia Yates and featuring performances by Memphis’ very own NLE Choppa and Duke Deuce. Homegrown talent and Memphis natives including Jadyn Smooth, Jasina Tate, A God, Gangsta E, and more will face off against other top dancers in a knock-out tournament judged solely by the audience. With no planned choreography and no pre-selected music, dancers must win the crowd vote to move on to the next round and advance to the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final.
The event will bring together 16 dancers from the Memphis region and beyond to battle their way through a single elimination bracket. With no panel of judges, no planned choreography, and no pre-selected music, dancers must win the crowd vote to move on to the next round and advance to the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final.
The inaugural qualifier of the U.S. Red Bull Dance Your Style season will celebrate the diverse dance styles and sounds of the South, hosted by Memphis’ own Queen of Jookin’ and founder of L.Y.E Academy, Ladia Yates, and New Orleans comedian DC Paul. Memphis won’t be the only city represented as locals will have to defend their legacy against tough competition, including Detroit’s Queen Of Jit, Queen Gabby, Houston’s Prince Wayne, Pitch Perfect 2 performer Robo Steve, and more. The winner of the Memphis qualifier will head to Chicago for the Red Bull Dance Your Styles National Finals on May 20th.
