Commissioner Mick Wright has served on the Shelby County Board of Commissioners since 2018, representing District 3, which includes all voting precincts in Bartlett and Lakeland. He was re-elected for a second term in 2022. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, he moved to Shelby County after earning a Bachelor’s degree in English from Harding University in Arkansas and later completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
Since 2003, Commissioner Wright has been part of Youth Villages, where he currently contributes to the Memphis Allies initiative, addressing gun violence through intervention services. A graduate of Leadership Bartlett, he has been deeply involved in civic activities, including volunteering with the Bartlett Chamber Foundation, Bartlett Education Foundation, and other local committees. He also founded Better Bartlett Schools, which played a pivotal role in establishing the Bartlett City Schools system.
Active within the Republican Party of Shelby County, Wright has served as Vice Chair and President of the Northeast Shelby Republican Club and was a delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention. He and his wife, Alison, reside in Bartlett and are avid runners who participate in charitable marathons as St. Jude Heroes. They are members of Christ Community Church in Memphis.
