Miska Clay Bibbs is the Chairwoman of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners. She was elected in August 2022 representing District 11. During her first year on the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, she served as Chairman Pro Tempore (Vice Chair). She previously served on the Memphis Shelby County School Board of Education for 8 years where she served as Chair of the Board for 2 of those 8 years. Every day, Ms. Bibbs works towards leaving the legacy of service and servant leadership. She is a native Memphian and is a proud graduate of White Station High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Marketing from Hampton University and is working on a graduate degree at the University of Memphis. She began her career interning as a college student at NASA, K-97/WDIA, Archer Malmo, and AutoZone. Upon graduation, she decided to follow her passion and come home to help manage a congressional campaign. She worked for the congressional office for several years, where she learned the importance of education advocacy, community development and that we all deserve to have our voice heard. After leaving the congressional office, she served in different roles at Memphis City Schools/Shelby County Schools using her experience in fundraising, community relations, marketing, media relations and community development to advance Memphis and its education system forward. She has served in executive leadership positions with innovative national education non-profits such Teach for America Memphis and Teach Plus.
