Legacy of Legends CDC is a community development corporation committed to creating trauma-informed and resilient communities in Memphis. Our mission is focused on preventing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and building vision-based communities that can address traumatic experiences, enabling all stakeholders to enjoy a better quality of life. Why We
Do This WorkMemphis faces significant challenges:
26.9% overall poverty rate
44.7% child poverty rate (48.9% for black children)
Over 40,000 Shelby County School students living in households with $10,000 or less annual income
1 in 4 Tennesseans have 4 or more adverse childhood experiences
These stark statistics drive our commitment to change and improvement in our community. Our Service ModelWe provide holistic, high-fidelity wraparound services through our Legacy Family Connect Centers (LFCC), utilizing a 2-Generation Approach to help children and parents overcome traumatic and adverse experiences. Our three-part strategy aims to significantly reduce ACEs, gang and youth violence, family violence, and poverty in Memphis communities:
ACE-Based Prevention
Intervention, Treatment, and Response
Supplemental Natural Supportive Response Services
What Sets Us ApartOur approach is uniquely effective because we focus on building Natural Community Supports. We develop genuine relationships with our 7Ps: Parents, Pastors, Principals, Police, Politicians, Proprietors, and Partners in our communities. Join us in our mission to create a legacy of resilience, healing, and opportunity for all members of our community. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier Memphis.
