About

Mickell Lowery is a dedicated public servant, business leader, and lifelong Memphian, currently running for Shelby County Mayor. Born and raised in Shelby County, Mickell is the son of former Memphis City Council Chairman and Mayor Pro Tem Myron Lowery, continuing a family legacy of service and leadership in the Memphis community.

With over two decades of experience at FedEx, where he serves as Managing Director, Mickell has led teams, solved complex challenges, and delivered results for one of Memphis’ largest employers. His professional achievements include receiving the FedEx Five Star Award and the President’s Club Award, honors reserved for the company’s top performers.

Elected to the Shelby County Commission in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, Mickell represents District 8, which includes Downtown, Frayser, South Memphis, North Memphis, and Central Gardens. As Commissioner, he has championed investments in local communities, strengthened schools, and worked to ensure government accountability. His leadership extends beyond government: Mickell has served on the Board of Trustees for LeMoyne-Owen College, the Board of Directors for the Fire Museum of Memphis, and as past president of the Downtown Neighborhood Association.

Deeply committed to youth development, Mickell has spent over a decade coaching youth football and mentoring students, investing in after-school and tutoring programs across Shelby County schools. His commitment to service has been recognized by Memphis Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40, Ebony Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30, and other honors.

Mickell holds a Bachelor’s in Business from LeMoyne-Owen College and a Master’s in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas. He and his wife, Chonisa, are raising their three daughters-Channise, Myla, and Milan-in Shelby County, the community he is proud to serve and call home.

“Shelby County is where I was born, where I built my career, where I serve my neighbors, and where I’m raising my family. Shelby County is home-and home is something you fight for.”

Mickell Lowery is ready to bring his proven leadership, vision, and commitment to serve as your next Shelby County Mayor.
