“ Memphis APRI works to strengthen the ties between the labor movement and the community. ”

About

The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) Memphis chapter is part of a national organization founded in 1965 by labor leader A. Philip Randolph and civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. APRI works at the intersection of labor and civil rights, focusing on advancing racial equality and economic justice for Black workers and the broader community. The Memphis chapter strengthens ties between the labor movement and local communities by boosting political engagement among Black voters and advocating for fair employment, education, healthcare, and housing policies. Through grassroots organizing, educational programs, and coalition building, APRI Memphis continues the legacy of its founders by fighting for social, political, and economic justice for all working people in the region.
