The Juvenile Court of Shelby County is committed to providing fair and effective justice for families and children, supporting a thriving community. Our mission is to deliver interventions that result in positive outcomes, addressing family matters with dignity and respect, while holding youth accountable in developmentally appropriate ways.

Leadership

Judge Tarik B. Sugarmon was elected judge of the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County in August 2022. He presides over the major crimes docket, hears appeals from the nine lower magistrates, and oversees the administration of each court division.
