I'm Hailey Thomas — a teacher, community advocate, and proud Memphian fighting for better schools and brighter futures for every student.

About

Hailey Thomas is a dedicated educator, community advocate, and proud fifth-generation Memphian seeking to represent District 1 on the Memphis-Shelby County Schools Board of Education.

Born to parents who immigrated to this country with limited formal education, Hailey experienced firsthand the transformative power of public schools. With the support of dedicated teachers, she and her four siblings became first-generation college graduates. This family legacy drives her unwavering belief that quality education is the bridge to opportunity for every child.

Hailey’s personal journey is defined by resilience. Diagnosed with epilepsy at age 13, she navigated significant health challenges without losing focus on her academic goals, eventually graduating as her high school’s salutatorian. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree and completed her Master’s degree by the age of 25.

Today, Hailey brings that same determination to her work as a classroom teacher. She understands the daily realities of Memphis students and is committed to building a school system where educators are empowered, families are heard, and safe, supportive learning environments are the standard, not the exception.
