Should You Rekindle a Past Love?
Love Big Live Big | October 17, 2020
It happens all the time. Two people pick up again years later and sometimes it works. But if you’re honestly going to try to rekindle with them, you have to be confident that you’re not going into something blindly.

Dear Jennifer
I’ve been dating a man for three years and thought we had a great relationship. But after a rough patch where we dealt with some issues and stress, he broke it off, and we’ve been apart for two years. NOW he wants to rekindle our relationship. My question for you is should I take him back after all this time?
Sincerely,
K

Dear K,
Before moving forward I think you need to ask yourself some serious questions like:

  • Do you feel confident that the things that broke down the relationship two years ago have been resolved?
  • And does he?
  • Also, do you believe him when he says how committed he is?
  • What has changed in two years that makes you suddenly think, ‘I can trust his intentions here?’
  • And not just his intentions, but his ability to follow through?

Don’t be afraid to have a serious conversation with him so that you can decide if you need to rekindle your relationship or get the closure you need to move on for good. You need to be really careful, because if the actual fundamentals of what made you not work before haven’t changed, then you’re at serious risk of being hurt again.

Love Big,
XOXO
