ArtsMemphis to host Art by Design
March 10, 2020
Art by Design was founded in 2016 by ArtsMemphis Board member and interior designer Greg Baudoin as an annual curated series of events highlighting Memphis’ interior design community and supporting our city’s artists and arts organizations.

Art by Design, a fundraising event to benefit ArtsMemphis featuring the works of some of Memphis’s leading interior designers, will be held Thursday, March 26 – Sunday, March 29, 2020, at the Pipkin Building at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and Fairgrounds, 940 Early Maxell Blvd. Presented by IBERIABANK, Art by Design will showcase the work of 15 interior designers who create custom “vignettes” inside a chic gallery showroom.

Art by Design was founded in 2016 by ArtsMemphis Board member and interior designer Greg Baudoin as an annual curated series of events highlighting Memphis’ interior design community and supporting our city’s artists and arts organizations. Baudoin is supported this year by Design and Show Chair Ann Parker, of Parker Design Studios, and Event Chair Jana Tayloe. This incredible event has raised more than $700,000 since its inception — helping ArtsMemphis grant $2.5 in annual funding to more than 70 arts groups and artists each year.

“Art by Design is a truly unique event. The success of this event relies on so many: the amazing individuals and companies who come together to support the arts through sponsorships and in-kind donations; the volunteer committee with boundless energy who plan the incredible events;  and, of course we could not do this without the hard work and dedication of the interior design community itself! To see these competitors in the interior design world come together to support the arts is truly humbling.” Says Elizabeth Rouse, ArtsMemphis President and CEO.

In honor of its 5th year, Art by Design 2020 has three exciting new features: Emerging Designers, The Marketplace at Art by Design and The Café at Art by Design by Park+Cherry.

This year, four of the vignettes will feature Emerging Designers who have been in business, or practicing interior design, for less than 2 years.  Designers competed for the coveted spots by showcasing their talents via social media for a chance to participate in Art by Design.  The Emerging Designers have been mentored by the established and experienced Art by Design designers to help further their careers and increase exposure to potential clients, vendors and the design community.

The Marketplace at Art by Design will feature local, one-of-a-kind interiors & home goods from A. Shaw Style, Mrs. Post, Collected by Elizabeth Malmo featuring artwork by local artist Chavanne McDonald, Stovall Collection featuring M. Steffens Interiors, and 20 local and regional sellers participating through Memphis Modern Market.
