Born and raised in Frayser, she is a proud graduate of Memphis Central (THE) High School, Rhodes College, and the University of Memphis Cecil C. For nearly eight years, Purifoy fought for fairness and dignity at Memphis Area Legal Services, providing free civil legal representation to those most in need. Her compassion and legal expertise helped countless families navigate difficult challenges — housing crises, consumer issues, and everyday struggles that affect real people across Shelby County.

In 2016, her commitment to justice was recognized when she was appointed to the judiciary. For almost a decade, Magistrate Purifoy has built a respected record of fairness, diligence, and professionalism. Each ruling reflects her steadfast belief that every person deserves respect, every voice should be heard, and every case must be judged with integrity.
