Porter-Leath is once again rallying the Mid-South to help brighten the holidays for local children through its annual Toy Truck collection drive. Since 2001, Toy Truck has provided gifts for thousands of preschoolers. In 2025 the need is greater than ever. Porter-Leath’s recent expansion through Head Start means the organization now provides gifts for more than 5,000 children under age five.
Community members can bring new, unwrapped toys or make financial contributions at any of the three Toy Truck weekends in December. Donations will be accepted at the following locations:
December 4–6, 2025
Poplar Plaza, 3440 Poplar Avenue
Thursday and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
December 12–13, 2025
WMC Action News 5, 1960 Union Avenue
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
December 19–20, 2025
IKEA, 7900 IKEA Way
Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Supporters can also donate by texting TOY to 50155. As in previous years, the first $50,000 of monetary gifts will be matched by a Secret Santa in the community.
Toy Truck is one of Porter-Leath’s longest-running holiday traditions and helps provide developmentally appropriate toys such as puzzles, dolls, trucks, and building blocks. These items bring joy during the holiday season and support the growth and learning of young children throughout the year.
“We are grateful for the continued generosity of our supporters and partners,” said Rob Hughes, Vice President of Development at Porter-Leath. “The expansion of our Head Start program has increased the number of children we serve. Every donation helps us ensure that more than 5,000 children in our community experience a joyful holiday season and receive toys that encourage creativity and learning.”
