In a time when headlines are filled with division, cynicism, and worry, it’s easy to feel as though our personal stories, dreams, and journeys don’t matter. But what if we decided to change the narrative, both for ourselves and for our communities? What if we chose to believe in possibility, hope, and greatness — not just for a select few, but for everyone?

That’s the spirit behind the #getAMPLIFIED Challenge. As the CEO of JustMy, I’m calling my own journey “From Orange Mound to the Super Bowl.” This is my path, and I hope you’ll join me in naming yours.

For me, the Super Bowl represents the pinnacle of achievement. As a kid growing up biracial in Orange Mound, Memphis — son to a single mom fighting her own battles — I faced struggles with ADHD, depression, and the chaos of restarting my life after a moment at four and a half that I could never remember. There were lost businesses, cars, homes, and a long search for my dad that ended before we ever met. All along, I held onto a simple childhood dream: to have my own commercial during the Super Bowl. As a little boy, that meant I'd "made it." Because if you’re featured on the world’s biggest stage, you must have done something truly significant.

That dream shaped me — even when I didn’t feel worthy of pursuing greatness.

Fast forward to today, and that burning desire is what drives the #getAMPLIFIED Challenge. Our goal is audacious: we want to help 360,000 organizations — businesses, nonprofits, community groups, faith leaders — start their journey to greatness by giving them a free myCARD Digital Business Card. We want to partner with 36,000 business owners to turbocharge their growth and expand their reach. And because a challenge should come with true possibility, we’re kicking things off with 6,000 JustMy Service Grants, valued up to $14,000 each, for the first businesses, nonprofits, and faith leaders who join this movement. There will be more prizes too, giving thousands the resources they need to amplify their voice.

This challenge is deeply personal. It’s about turning the difficulties we've faced into fuel for our journeys. For years, my path was rocky — marked by loss, self-doubt, and the belief that my happiness was out of reach. But what changed my perspective was meeting Duy Nguyen, my business partner and best friend, now in Atlanta with his beautiful, talented, and deeply supportive wife and their adorable son. Duy isn’t just my co-founder — he showed me through example that our futures are not determined by our pasts, our hardships, or even our mistakes. He became the kind of friend who helps you rewrite your own narrative. In a world that sometimes judges, we’re two friends (not a couple!) dreaming beyond the ordinary together — lifting others up every step of the way.

Together, we built JustMy because we believe technology should empower real people to tell their stories, create positive change, and reach for greatness. Our myCARD platform is about putting all the best of you — your business, your mission, your story — in a single, seamless link, ready to share with those who care. It isn’t about the algorithm; it’s about human connection.

I’ve watched Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, inspired by their meteoric rise. The Chiefs hadn’t made the Super Bowl in fifty years, but Patrick’s relentless pursuit of greatness not only changed the game for his team — they created a Kingdom. That’s proof for me, and for all of us, that where you start isn’t nearly as important as how you pursue your goals. It’s the journey, the belief, and the effort — that’s what defines us.

This year, as I approach 59, I’m done waiting for permission to chase my dream. I want to write my own “Here to Greatness” story, to buy a Super Bowl commercial because, as that boy from Orange Mound believed, that’s what it means to truly make an impact. Maybe I don’t reach the big game this year, maybe it takes longer — but I won’t stop trying, and neither should you.

The #getAMPLIFIED Challenge is about more than achievements. It’s about lifting up businesses, nonprofits, faith organizations, and ordinary people who refuse to be defined by struggle or setbacks. When the world says “you can’t,” we’ll say “watch us.” When life is hard, we’ll amplify the greatness inside each of us and pass it forward. Your story matters. Your journey deserves the spotlight. And if you can rise, so can everyone else.

This year, JustMy’s Digital NewsSTANDS — like JustMyMemphis and JustMyAtlanta and soon 200 more — will expand to serve local communities, sharing the “Here to Greatness” journeys of everyday Americans. We want to publish your stories and inspire a nation to reach for new heights. In Memphis alone, our partnership has helped nonprofits raise over $5 million; now, Duy and I are setting out to magnify that impact all across the country.
