Giving Kids Confidence for a New School Year
Meet Krystle Smith, a driving force behind Operation Memphis 901 and CFO at Hands of Mercy Everywhere. On August 2nd, these organizations will host a Back to School Giveaway at 340 S Second Street in Memphis, TN. Their mission? To ensure that every child in the Mid-South area starts the school year with confidence—a brand new pair of Nike shoes and a backpack full of supplies.
“There’s no qualification. It’s first come, first served. Every child is welcome,” says Krystle. “We want to help with school supplies, but also with mental health—bullying is real, and something as simple as new shoes can help a child feel excited and confident about going back to school.”
Community at the Heart
Operation Memphis 901 is more than just a giveaway. It’s a year-round hub for families, providing meals at Thanksgiving, toys at Christmas, and support whenever it’s needed most. With the help of Hands of Mercy Everywhere, their reach extends across Memphis, DeSoto County, and even Arkansas—wherever there’s a child in need.
The Power of Partnership—And How You Can Help
This year, the goal is to provide at least 100 pairs of new Nikes and even more backpacks. But with your help, they can reach even more kids. Sponsorships are vital—the more support from local businesses and community members, the more children can start the year on the right foot.
