Memphis, TN – On the morning of May 4th, the verdant expanses of Shelby Farms Park will be abuzz with a spirit of hope and determination as the West Tennessee chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts the much-anticipated Memphis Great Strides event. This gathering is more than a walk in the park; it's a stride toward a future free from cystic fibrosis (CF), a debilitating genetic disease that currently affects over 300 West Tennesseans, and tens of thousands worldwide.
In the previous year, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's commitment to the cause was unwavering, with a staggering $265 million directed towards groundbreaking research and patient care. The funds raised through Memphis Great Strides, along with hundreds of other events across the nation, are pivotal in supporting the Foundation's mission to not only find a cure for CF but also to empower those living with the condition to lead longer, more fulfilling lives.
Memphis Great Strides is the flagship fundraising event for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a tradition of hope that has been instrumental in raising millions since its inception in 1989. The event unites families, friends, students, and colleagues in a collaborative effort to turn the tide against CF.
The day's activities kick off at 10AM, with participants encouraged to arrive early to create their team's home base, complete with tents, chairs, and lawn games. The atmosphere will be charged with energy as a dance warm-up gets hearts pumping, followed by the infectious beats of DJ Funn, and the mouthwatering aromas of Victory Lane BBQ's lunch offerings. While there is no fee to participate, registration is essential for planning purposes.
To join the ranks of those making strides against CF, prospective participants can register at fightcf.cff.org/Memphis. For those looking to engage further with the West Tennessee chapter's efforts, a visit to cff.org/Memphis will provide a comprehensive list of upcoming events and opportunities.
