Greg Gilbert is running for Judge in Division 10, the Domestic Violence Court. Fighting Domestic Violence is a passion for Greg. His website explains his fight this way: "As a survivor of domestic violence as a child, and now as the Chief Prosecutor of the Shelby County Domestic Violence Division with 23 years of experience, I am uniquely qualified for this role. I am incredibly honored by and proud of my work on behalf of victims and their families and ask for your support and vote to allow me to continue helping the victims of domestic violence in a new role as Judge for Division 10, Domestic Violence Court."
Greg took some time off from his campaign to help bring awareness to the local Family Safety Center.
Domestic violence is a pattern of controlling behavior that consists of physical, sexual and/or psychological abuse or assaults committed by one intimate partner against another. Domestic violence often occurs because a partner wants to control the thoughts, beliefs and conduct of his or her significant other.
While domestic violence is directed at a particular victim, everyone suffers – children, families, friends and co-workers. Domestic violence affects our entire community.
