Michael Turley, CEO of Zephyr Foods stated, "Our 1 Source product is the answer to a consumer demand for better, more traceable products – especially with ground beef. Most commercial packages contain bits of up to 1,000 different cows from multiple countries. That's not the case with 1 Source. We're honored it's being recognized as a NEXTY Award finalist. This is big for us."

The NEXTY Awards are a twice-annual awards program in which New Hope Network recognize the most innovative, inspirational and integrity-driven products in the natural products industry. For the 2019 Expo East awards, judges have narrowed down more than 400 nominated products from across the country to a pool of 62 impressive finalists across 22 categories with only 3 finalists per category.

COUP is a private champagne collection which celebrates creative culture. Every artist at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards will receive a custom hand painted, hand assembled and laser-engraved bottle with a personalized statement to honor their contribution to music.

"We created COUP to provoke all of us to shake off expectations so that we can more freely find and express ourselves," said Ryan Tu, founder of COUP. "But it's precisely these moments of expression that are the most deserving of a glass of champagne. These awards remind us to stay true to our art. We are excited to honor that creativity with the best craft champagne in the world."

COUP Vintage is collected from the cellars of independent producers who are rich in talent, passionate in craft, with their own personal narrative. Each bottle pays tribute to this individuality and no two bottles are remotely similar.

An engaged couple can select items to be fulfilled by a big box online and brick and mortar store. Which store is determined by the best price and what item the couple selects as well as the ability to add general and specific gift cards. This technology is to create an option where you can make use of modern funding and social media vs. other wedding registries. WeddingCrowdfunding.com also added tools a couple would like to have to help the registry go viral. Here is a way for a primary or secondary registry to have a larger gift that would normally be a splurge for the couple. The system is touted as being open to your imagination to getting your items funded and shipped.

Diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma of his nose, George Purifoy underwent a rhinectomy (excision of the nose) to remove the cancer and began radiation therapy. Radiation treatment initiated bone death (osteonecrosis) of his maxilla. After multiple surgeries by Dr. Brett Shirley, DDS, MD, FACS (oral maxillofacial surgeon) for excision, Mr. Purifoy was left without most of his maxilla and nose. He was then referred to Dr. Massad by the head of the Oklahoma VA hospital for construction of an oral-facial prosthesis. Individuals with mouth pain, for instance, suffer from the following: cavities, periodontal disease, cracked teeth, infected teeth, missing teeth, painful dentures, failed dental work such as fillings, crowns and bridges. Moreover, mouth pain can induce speech problems, eating problems, and smiling problems.

"The source(s) of mouth pain should be discovered before treatment is rendered, as such precise diagnosis of sources is key," says Dr. Joe Kravitz.

Mouth pain originates by A delta and C nerve fibers sending messages to your brain. This message alerts the brain that something is wrong. This is your critical alert to see a dentist who has the expertise to resolve your condition.

Celebrated interior designer Susanne Khan and master chef Sarah Todd joined ZOYA's Brand Head, Amanpreet Ahluwalia at the launch of this exquisite collection. As a founder of India's first and most unique design concept store, Charcoal Project, Sussanne's focus on design and creativity found synergy with ZOYA's own approach to creation of collections while Sarah, an internationally acclaimed restaurateur and chef, was the perfect match for the event with gourmet plating techniques being the focal point of Rhapsodie.

Sussanne Khan said, "The collection is a rare visual treat. As a designer, I appreciate its uniquely sweeping forms, colors, and textures. Also, the brilliance of the stones - rutilated quartz, peridots, tiger eyes and briolettes in interesting shapes and forms, make the pieces truly alluring. The use of refined technology and fine detailing have created a distinguished line of contemporary masterpieces that blend graceful femininity with industrial modernity."

Tim Wooten, Senior Vice President for Construction, anticipated the rise. “We experienced significant growth during the past year, increasing the volume of properties we remodel across the U.S. by 277 percent and quadrupling our revenue,” he said. “Through this growth, our focus has been on retaining top talent to oversee quality construction projects in the 59 markets we operate. Our goal is to continue this growth through new client acquisition and denser market penetration.”

Since 1978 the QR Top 500 has tracked the industry's largest and most successful companies. In 2019, the Top 500 represented $10 billion in remodeling sales volume on over one million jobs.

Though the interest and importance of curb appeal is high, experts unanimously shared that the key to desirable curb appeal is to keep both design and maintenance simple.

"Good maintenance and simplicity will go farther than trying to redesign your yard," Greayer says. She also suggests that you "think of your house like a face: it needs to be washed and cleaned, and then you can take it to the next level with just a little makeup."

This means keeping up with routine tasks like weeding, edging, mowing and pruning, along with adding subtle touches of color from container plants to draw the eye to areas of the yard you want to highlight.

Greayer especially gravitates toward creating defined garden bed edges (using an edger) and orderly lines with her lawn mower when tackling curb appeal in her own yard.

Schanen adds, "Clutter is distracting in a yard, and it quickly looks disorderly. Simply picking things up and putting them away makes everything look tidy. Pressure washing the front of the house and entry steps goes even further. It shows that the person who lives there cares about their space."

The Inc. magazine list comprises the 5,000 fastest growing companies in America, a group that has included Microsoft, Timberland, Oracle, Under Armour, Jamba Juice, Clif Bar, Patagonia, Zappos and more well-known companies. This year's group, on average, has grown six-fold since 2015, far outpacing a national economy that grew by 12% over that time.

"We're thrilled to be on the INC 5,000 list, and we're even more excited about what that says about our team's ability to satisfy our customers," MY Shower Door / D3 Glass co-owner Bill Daubmann said. "We've established a reputation for quality, and we're out to reinforce it with everything we do."

The frameless shower door firm recently built a new 60,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility off Alico Road in south Fort Myers, with seven showroom locations spread between Orlando and Naples. The company employs more than 100 people, and its revenues shot up from $11.4 million in 2016 to $16.9 million last year. The INC 5,000's aggregate revenue was $237.7 billion in 2018.

Not surprisingly, Shoji's styles are harmonious with Gabriel's mantra of Fine Jewelry Everyday, not only because the designer prefers to keep "jewelry sleek and simple" to offset his "bold colors with intricate texture and draping." "I don't want women to look overwhelmed by their wardrobe," says Shoji. Naturally he went right to "the sparkling drops, hoop earrings and delicate pave diamond chokers and ropes" that Gabriel does better than anyone. "It was so simple to shoot Tadashi's clothes with our pieces," says Hal Rubenstein, Gabriel & Co.'s Global Style Director. "Our desire to create jewelry that is eye-catching yet relatable, dramatic but demure is exactly why Gabriel & Co. created its thriving Fine Jewelry Everyday Collection. "Tadashi Shoji's work makes it possible for every woman to have a red carpet moment, with a little added brilliance from us."

To bridge the gap between runway fashion and fine jewelry, the DESIGNER FLASH series provides vital information to showcase the idea that fine jewelry can also be everyday jewelry. The resplendent ease of Tadashi Shoji's dresses mixed with Gabriel & Co.'s expansive range of jewelry creates a look sure to stop anyone in their tracks. Stack layering rings and necklaces to create a standout look or pair simple studs and bangles for a sophisticated amalgamation that can be worn for years to come.

Your Unwanted Attention is Making me Uncomfortable

Boundaries, Set Them

The first step in eliminating unwanted attention is to inform the person who is making you feel uncomfortable. Doing nothing can bring on a victim-mentality and most likely, more unwanted attention. Conversely, standing up for yourself and doing so with kindness and integrity is empowering. It can also prevent others from experiencing similar unwanted advances.

The launch of The Glenlivet 14 Year Old, with our NYFW: The Shows sponsorship and collaboration with Prabal Gurung, is the latest proof point of how our brand continues to open up the whisky category.

On Aug. 28, 2019, IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced the launch of GRIT, a digital solution for veterans, active-duty service members, and reservists that provides a mobile experience to help them understand and strengthen their mental fitness, social connections, and overall well-being.

Developed by IBM iX in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and embedded with Total Brain's technology, GRIT is the first branded digital solution dedicated to helping populations who live under considerable stress and/or are going through a significant life transition like leaving the military to re-enter civilian life.

GRIT uses technology to aggregate personalized data in a completely confidential and secure manner.* The data is used to create a digital profile of the individual, which, when coupled with artificial intelligence, enables GRIT to glean unique insights and effectively get to "know" each service member, reservist, or veteran personally. GRIT provides service members and veterans with a host of useful insights and tools to aid them in monitoring their mental health, building emotional and cognitive capacities and resilience, finding the right jobs and housing opportunities, enhancing their social connections for support, etc.

To monitor mental health and build mental fitness, IBM is partnering with Total Brain which provides scientific brain assessments and personalized brain and mind training to help users consolidate mental strengths and master weaknesses.

GRIT arose from a long-standing collaboration between the VA and IBM looking into how technology could contribute to solutions for veterans transitioning out of service. VA clinicians, mobility experts and veterans joined IBM in a series of design thinking workshops to explore ideas about to address the need for resources and assistance. These sessions led to a prototype and additional feedback and research. Then, GRIT was retailored and designed to help service members and veterans gain personal insights into their emotional well-being, provide resources to improve their individual situations, and serve as a mechanism to address social determinants that greatly impact individuals' well-being.

"This is a historic public-private partnership with the VA — one that helps veterans bridge the gap when they are transitioning out of service and at their most vulnerable," said Kathleen Urbine, partner, emerging technology and mobile lead, IBM Services. "Our partnership with Total Brain has been crucial in supporting the mental health and fitness aspect of this tool and we look forward to continuing this important work."

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 10 – 24 in America, resulting in more than 130 deaths each week.  The suicide rate in this age group has risen dramatically as of late.  Between 2007 and 2017, we experienced a more than 65% increase in the suicide rate of 10 – 24 year-old Americans.  The younger population is hardly immune to life's stresses and their well-being should be a concern, as well.  The number of suicide deaths for ages 10 – 14 have more than doubled since 2006.  Suicide has, however, been declared a leading cause of PREVENTABLE death.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards will grant two Tennessee honorees $1,000 scholarship, a medallion and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), was created in 1995 to recognize the exemplary volunteer work of middle level and high school students. Since then, Prudential Spirit of Community Awards have been given to more than 130,000 middle and high school students across the country at the local, state and national level.

"We've honored young people from three generations since this program began, and while the world has changed many times over, one thing has stayed the same: Young volunteers are doing remarkable, meaningful work to address the challenges facing their communities," said Charles Lowrey, chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial, Inc. "As we enter our 25th year, we remain inspired by these young people and their stories of service, and hope that they'll inspire others to get involved, too."

Dear Feelinglikeafool,

First of all, you are not a fool, so don't beat yourself up. Every relationship—difficult as it may have been—was a learning experience. While it's important to move forward, you need to take things one step at a time. Before you get into another relationship, reassess your goals and the type of women you’re choosing. What did you learn about yourself from past experiences? How are your choices adapting so you don’t repeat behavior and end up with the same results? Remember that no one is without flaws, but for the sake of being taken advantage of, avoid putting so much into a relationship that you'll be emotionally bankrupt if things go south.

 XOXO,

Jennifer J. Hayes

You are truly in the middle of a difficult situation.  What your fiancé needs to try to understand is despite the previous issues with your mother, she is your family, and whether he likes it or not, your mom will also be his family once you two are married. Family members—especially mothers and daughters—disagree. This, however, should not stop the two parties from forgiving each other and working to reestablish a solid relationship. Until this happens, limit her visits while he is around. If you say that she really likes him, maybe you should try explaining his position to her. As your future husband, he wants to protect you from situations that cause you pain. See if you and your mother can figure out a way to better resolve issues prior to your wedding day. If you can’t, maybe seeking professional help is a better option. I think it’s commendable that he wants to protect you, but it’s not very realistic for you never to see your mom.

XOXO,

Jennifer J. Hayes

How can I save a job that I love but let my boss know that his attention is making me uncomfortable?

Dear Ms. Waitnomore,

My advice would be to enjoy the early discovery phase without getting overly invested—and yes, by overly invested I mean having sex. Prior to physical intimacy, the most important thing you want to know is if he’s interested in the same kind of relationship as you. If it’s too soon to make a decision about whether this guy is actually relationship material, I would hold off. It may be the exact opposite of what you want to do, but rushing that process does more harm than good. Men who are relationship-ready want to know that women are taking them seriously too; and if you’re quick to hit the sack, he’ll wonder if that’s your pace with every man.

Before you get physical, make sure you have a good level of communication with each other and an understanding where the relationship is headed. Don’t settle! Take as much time as you need in deciding if he truly is relationship material, then take the next step when you’re ready.

XOXO,

Jennifer

Keeping the spark in your love life is a hard job, especially when you add work, stress, bills and children into the mix. And the longer you stay in a relationship, the easier it is to drift into routine, killing the spontaneity and romance you both had in the beginning. I have so many friends who complain about missing how their spouses or significant others showed affection in the beginning of the relationship. “He was so charming, we held hands, he bought me flowers and he was so attentive. Now, he forgets my birthday, we never go anywhere, he is not romantic”. From the Men I hear; “we never have sex, if we do it is all about her, she never fixes herself up, she cares more about the kids, she too tired,” and list goes on and on. Both parties’ question where the sizzle went, and the answer is simple. It’s not missing... it just died down. No relationship is perfect, but each one requires work on both sides. There are so many things you can do to improve your relationship, sexually and otherwise. The problem is many couples yearn for a passionate love life, yet few take the steps to ignite it.

I am sure most of us blush at the mere thought of calling our partners in the middle of the day for a little love talk—but it might be just what you both need to get you going. Just a few minutes of dirty talk or texts can make you both anticipate seeing each other in the evening. Ditch that old routine and try spontaneity on for size. Be a little adventurous and roleplay with your partner. Dress up, change your names or act like you just met. This is the time to let your fantasies come alive. Learn to spice it up with new toys or sensual massages. Have sex in different rooms of the house and at unique times; and while you’re at it try different positions. Nothing says sizzle like a morning quickie in the kitchen. Put the romance back in your relationship. Not everything has to lead to third base. Try holding hands and kissing different parts of the body. Forehead, hand, neck and shoulder kisses are romantic and sensual. It’s not just about sex. Learn how to create anticipation like you had when you first met you partner.

Most of all communicate. Learn your partner’s love language, ask what turns him/her on, and be open to adjusting your tactics to reignite passion. Have fun with it, play a little Show and Tell. You may feel uncertain at times but continue taking steps to get that flame going again. It will take time, but it’s worth it. Start loving again!

XOXO,

Jennifer

Now for Some Help Making your Dish!

Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil, add the pasta then follow package directions, but cook 1 minute less than the package calls for. Drain.

Meanwhile, make the creamy cheese sauce. Melt the butter in a large high-sided pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Sprinkle the flour over the melted butter and whisk the butter and flour together and around the pan until they smell toasted and look light brown; 2 to 3 minutes.

While whisking, pour in the warm milk. Continue to cook, constantly whisking until the sauce begins to simmer and thickens.

Turn the heat to low then stir in the cheddar and cream cheeses, salt, and black pepper. When the sauce is smooth and velvety, stir in the cooked pasta. If the sauce looks wet/thin, don’t worry, the pasta absorbs some the extra moisture as it cools. Turn the heat off, and then cover with a lid. Leave for 3 to 5 minutes, stir once more, and then serve.

Is it possible to feel *in love* after 33 years if one wasn’t ever *in love* in the beginning?

Dear Ms. Skeptical,

Finding an authentic relationship in a world operating on so many false pretensions, especially after failed attempts, can be challenging. But if you are brave enough to pull some of that plastic off, you will find a strong degree of realness out there. Plenty of true, authentic people are also looking for a lasting relationship. My first bit of advice to you is don’t compare your past relationships with those that have yet to bloom. Those storms are preparing you for the sunshine yet to come. If the dating avenues you are using are not providing you with the results you are looking for, maybe it’s time to shift gears and go a different route. There are so many options when it comes to dating. From matchmakers and online websites to apps and meetup groups, you just have to find the medium that works for you. Lastly, the outcome of your results often comes down to self believe. You attract what you put out, and if your belief system is that there are no authentic people wanting what you want, that may be the reason why you are without meaningful relationships. Your internal dialogue speaks louder than you know, so speak into existence what you want to see and believe wholeheartedly that that person will come into your life.

XOXO,

Jennifer

Dear Trustissues,

When it comes to trust, I don’t think it’s a matter of you getting over that feeling. It’s about you finding space and comfort within the relationship you have with your new man, where you are able to talk about that feeling and share it with him. It’s a real and genuine feeling that you have based on your past experiences, so don’t look at it as something you have to get rid of. Instead, ask yourself, do you feel safe in your current relationship where you can be vulnerable enough to share how you’re feeling with him? My advice would be to take your time, go slower. Let him know that you need a little more reassurance than before, and because of your past experiences, you have become a little more vigilant, unsure and vulnerable. Let him know that it’s not about him and it has everything to do with your past relationships and insecurities. From your ability to talk with him about it openly and honestly and his ability to respond to it kindly and compassionately, it will allow that feeling to go away and invite trust in.

XOXO,

Jennifer

My husband finally admitted to having a full blown one for the past year and a half. I ‘ve known about it for month but he has always denied the allegations. Kind of hard to hide it now because I caught them out together. I am devastated and I feel like after 15 years of marriage that I have lost everything. The latest chapter in Columbia/Legacy's highly acclaimed Bob Dylan Bootleg Series revisits Dylan's pivotal musical journeys to Nashville, from 1967 to 1969, focusing on previously unavailable recordings made with Johnny Cash and unreleased tracks from the John Wesley Harding, Nashville Skyline, and Self Portrait sessions.

Bob Dylan (featuring Johnny Cash) - Travelin' Thru, 1967 - 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 is available in 3CD and 3LP physical configurations and digital equivalent. Pre-order here: https://BobDylan.lnk.to/travelinthruPR

Disc One of Travelin' Thru, 1967 - 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 finds Dylan in Columbia's Studio A in Nashville recording alternate versions of compositions written for John Wesley Harding (October 17 and November 6, 1967) and Nashville Skyline (February 13-14, 1969) while introducing a new song "Western Road" (a Nashville Skyline outtake).

Discs Two and Three of Travelin' Thru are centered around Dylan's collaborations with American music icon Johnny Cash including the much sought-after Columbia Studio A sessions and on-stage performances at the Ryman Auditorium (May 1, 1969) for the recording of the premiere episode of The Johnny Cash Show (originally broadcast on ABC-TV on June 7, 1969).

Disc Three closes with tracks recorded on May 17, 1970 with Grammy Award-winning bluegrass banjo legend Earl Scruggs for the PBS television special, "Earl Scruggs: His Family and Friends" (originally aired January 1971).

1967 saw a profound and surprising transformation in Bob Dylan's musical evolution. With contemporary pop culture becoming increasingly baroque, surreal and psychedelic in the wake of Dylan's 1965-66 cutting edge trilogy, Bringing It All Back Home/Highway 61 Revisited/Blonde On Blonde, the artist withdrew from public view following a motorcycle accident in July 1966. He'd recorded Blonde On Blonde with a full-band in Nashville in February 1966 but, when it came time to record its follow-up in the fall of 1967, he opted for a simple trio--Dylan (guitar, vocals, harmonica), Charlie McCoy (bass) and Kenneth Buttrey (drums)--to create a sublime minimal sound.

In his liner notes for Travelin' Thru, Colin Escott writes, "Talking to journalist Matt Damsker about the sound of John Wesley Harding, Dylan said, 'I didn't know how to record the way other people were recording, and I didn't want to… I just didn't think all that production was necessary.' He also went for lyrical economy. 'What I'm trying to do now is not use too many words,' he said. 'There's no line you can stick your finger through. There's no blank filler.'''

All I said was, “It’s actually not that bad here.” It was a very tiny telephone, so maybe you didn’t quite understand: all I meant was that I liked the hot food, the central heating, and the luxury of a lumpy bed that wasn’t by the side of the road. I meant, “Don’t worry, Dad, it’s not like the movies.” I wanted you to know that I wasn’t about to be shanked. But I guess you heard “I like being in juvie,” so you went nuts.

Dad, if you had asked me over the phone why I did it, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I didn’t know how to explain the hole inside me. Why did I steal that car and put two thousand miles on it? Well, why do people swim? Because we love the water? No. Because we don’t want to drown. And in our hometown, I was drowning, Dad.

It was never about the car, really. The car was just–there. A convenience. And I never really cared about where I was going. All directions were away.

When you flew two thousand miles to retrieve me from juvenile detention, you were worried that this was the start of the end. That some integral part of me had been knocked askew–that next it would be drugs, or older men, or stripping. And I don’t blame you. What were you supposed to think? Your respectful, obedient, introverted, straight-A daughter, who was a virgin and had never tried drugs in her life, who did the dishes every night without complaint, had become a felon literally overnight. Christ, you probably thought I’d gotten brain damage!

In retrospect, hey, maybe I was a little brain damaged. Dad, do you know what my greatest worry was that day? My hair. Juvenile detention doesn’t allow hair dryers, you see, and if I don’t blow dry my hair it gets frizzy. While you worried that I was going to start a career in prostitution, I worried that the other inmates thought I was ugly.

Consider all I have done since. I graduated high school as a valedictorian. I have a full ride in college. I still get straight A’s. I’m graduating without debt. I’ve won a prestigious internship. But I am afraid that when you look at me, all you see is a teenager in an ugly orange uniform and frizzy, frizzy hair.

My Journey Began!

As of now I’ve gotten to the point where I can sporadically move almost every part of my body, and have at least a little bit of sensation in almost every part of my body. The next step for me is stem cell & NAD+ treatment. My family is in no way well off, but through a lot of hard work done by my family, friends, and me, we’ve raised almost $28,000 to go towards treatment. This has been a total grassroots effort comprised of things like a gofundme campaign, yard sales, email campaigns, and fundraiser dinner/auctions. Even the majority of auction items for the fundraiser dinner were compiled through donations by local businesses because of a flyer campaign we decided to do. My dad literally spent entire days going door to door to local businesses, explaining my situation, and asking if they’d be willing to help. Believe me, if we can do it then almost anyone can.

One of the most important reasons I do this is to show other people who might be in a difficult situation, a situation where it seems like there’s no hope, that this is possible. There is a way to get things done if you put your mind to it. Eventually I’d also like to turn this into a blueprint for a foundation that helps other people in need get treatments that could be life changing for them and their families.

Yet on April 29, 2019, after nearly 200,000 miles traveled to every U.S. state and territory, this journey to all 419 National Park Service sites came to its Finale on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Joined by 100 family, friends, journalists, and those who’ve discovered this journey along the way, we walked from the Washington Monument, my first site of this odyssey, to the top of the Lincoln Memorial steps that signified the official completion of this once-in-a-lifetime goal. You can watch the final moment here via the Voice of America’s video coverage. I’ve also put together a photo album that shares the moment in chronological order via pictures from all the cameras (on Facebook but viewable to the public even without an account). Lastly, a list of some of the Finale media coverage which included NPR (audio), BBC News (video), the Washington Post, NBC, Roadtrippers, Outside Magazine, OUT Magazine, CNN, Univision (Spanish video) and (English video), USA Today, a blog in my own words summarizing the journey (editor edited) on REI’s website, a phone call into a local DC radio station who was talking smack about my journey the day after, and a really comprehensive video by NowThis who sent a reporter to Minneapolis to film in my new home.

Embarrassed, disappointed, and disgusted by the way of some of our leaders our great city who have decided to respond to the situation that happened June 12, 2019.

On Wednesday June 9th 2019 at 7 p.m. Brandon Webber a 20 year old Memphian who was wanted out of Mississippi for attempted murder and carjacking for shooting a man five times over a car he was selling online. The man survived but when the Marshals found out his identity and they found them they requested him to surrender he brushed a gun and the Marshal shot in 20 times killing him. Almost immediately after this happened Memphis police were ready to keep crowd control and traffic to a minimum however as many of you know it'll say like Memphis and in other situations across this country Whenever there is the situation of a young male black male in particular killed quote on quote unjustly by law enforcement first thing people do is get their phones out and in a way of capturing the law enforcement offices spaces and in some ways provoking them into proving their point that law enforcement officers are nothing more than an out-of-control angry Savages which is completely not the case and far from the truth.

Callie Compton shares her thoughts on Stand Beside Her!

Callie Compton, Marketing Director for JustMyCities. We sat down with Callie to talk about the upcoming Stand Beside her Movement for 2019.  Callie Compton, "We are proud to partner with Girl Scouts Heart of the South on the Stand Beside Her Campaign in 2019.  This is the fifth anniversary of Stand Beside Her – a national movement started by Girl Scouts Heart of the South. Stand Beside Her is a rallying cry inspiring girls and women to stand up for each other and commit to shutting down unhealthy comparison that tears down and divides.  By celebrating one another’s talents and successes, we all rise - one courageous, confident girl and woman at a time.  Stand Beside Her is working to change the culture of women across the country and around the globe. Starting in childhood girls are inundated with negative messages and behaviors that prevent them from building healthy relationships and ideals about their potential.

Girls keep these unhealthy ideals and relationships as they mature into women.  The competition and comparison formed on the playground and in the classroom carries over to the boardroom and in the home, preventing women from reaching their fullest potential.  Let’s create a world where all women and girls are appreciated for their talent, strengths and uniqueness.

We invite you to join the movement and #StandBesideHer so every girl and woman can reach her fullest potential."

A committee of team members at the Monogram Foods support center in Memphis, TN divided a total of $50,000 between the charities. The initiatives funded by each grant are as follows:

Jack discovered during his second year of teaching, his students were frustrated. Not only did the current approach for physics education require students to all be at a certain level to understand even discussing the concepts, students that were performing well if you glanced at their exam scores were also missing the why. Mr. Replinger saw this and knew his student's didn't want to do bad, he knew they wanted to understand and do well. There just wasn't a way to do that effectively and he came up with Positive Physics.

Positive Physics started with the mindset that any student could "learn and love physics." After a decade of iterations the curriculum had made improvements in Replinger's classroom. He then wanted to share it with the world. After speaking with some people, trying to see what it would take to get this into the hands of students and teachers, he was told he needed lots and lots of money. Along with a large team with expertise to make this vision a reality.

The automated Speed Safety Program will supplement existing traffic calming measures employed by Memphis police officers and will deploy digital camera systems to identify alleged violations. The 15 camera systems are installed on poles that are located near or adjacent to intersections in school zones and S- curves. Cameras will be active for the 30 minutes prior to school opening and 15 minutes after it has opened. The cameras will once again activate 15 minutes prior to school closing until 30 minutes after it has closed.

"We're proud to partner with the City on this important implementation," said Holly Cooper, General Manager, Public Safety Solutions, Conduent. "As an industry leader, our team is committed to giving cities like Memphis the latest technology and the tools they need to keep children and other citizens safe, particularly in school zones."

The 15 locations were selected by the city based on a scoring matrix that evaluated accident history and accident severity at approximately 350 locations and narrowed down to 30 locations for speed assessments. The 15 locations with the highest percentage of drivers operating above the posted speed limit were selected for initial deployment. The locations of the 15 cameras can be viewed here.

"Getting to and from school safely are two of the most critically important parts of the day for Shelby County Schools students," said Superintendent Dr. Joris M. Ray. "We are extremely grateful to partner with the City of Memphis and Conduent on Memphis' new Speed Safety Program as we encourage motorists to slow down in school zones and support increased public safety that will enhance protection for our children."

Conduent's DriveSafe system uses radar detection technology to accurately detect vehicles through the school zone or S curve. The precise speed of each vehicle is securely monitored to determine if the posted speed limit is exceeded.

Citation fees, which are determined by the City of Memphis, are $50 for each individual violation and failure to respond to the original notice will result in a $45 late fee.

Revenue generated from penalties and assessments associated with the implementation of this ordinance shall first be applied to all equipment, administrative, and associated processing costs. All excess revenues shall then be limited to the payment of costs associated with traffic and safety education programs and shall not be available for general government operating expenditures.

This safety program is pursuant to City of Memphis Ordinances 5108 and 5493 sections 21-80.

Those images are often very negative but also very far from what participating in counseling is actually like. Commercials or TV shows often depict mental health professionals as eccentric, deranged, or aloof and uncaring themselves. TV also depicts people who seek services as "crazy" and none of this is the actual truth. The recent new Popeye's chicken sandwich commercial even got in on the deprecating therapy action!

While mental health services help people who have existing mental health diagnoses such as Bipolar Disorder and PTSD, counseling can also be useful to people who are simply experiencing life transitions such as moving, going to college or becoming an empty nester. Therapy can also be appropriate for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one, a relationship conflict, or even work stress.

Sometimes I wonder if people would feel more comfortable seeking services if counseling were called something else. Maybe it could just be called support because essentially that's what counseling is-additional support to assist people with life's challenges. As a Therapist, it bothers me that society considers it okay for people to get tutoring when they need help with math but it's not as socially acceptable for people to get help for their spirit, emotions, or mind.

In addition, a person hesitating to get help can compound the issues and stress the person is experiencing making things that much more difficult when he or she actually goes to therapy. Further, people who don't seek help when they need it can end up having health and medical issues as a consequence or even start having suicidal ideations.

Creators will play fun and popular games like Crazy Cookie Taste Test, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader™ as well as a never-before-seen game built specifically for the campaign from Scott Cawthon, the maker of the popular Five Nights At Freddy's video game series. The livestream will also feature a special guest appearance from former St. Jude patient, Miguel, who was treated for osteosarcoma as a teenager and now works at the fundraising organization for St. Jude.

Viewers can make donations to St. Jude anytime during the livestream, as The Game Theorists participate in fundraising challenges and announce special donation incentives.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital this year and so thankful to our collaborators on YouTube who are partnering with us on the stream. Treating childhood cancer used to be considered a hopeless cause," said Stephanie Patrick of The Game Theorists. "But treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago."

"The doctors and researchers working in this field are the bravest, most dedicated out there and the children going through treatments deserve all the support in the world," said Matthew Patrick of The Game Theorists. "Our friends joining us on the stream and their audiences are some of the most generous and amazing people we know. If we can play a role in helping bring everyone together in a big way to support the kids at St. Jude, in our mind, there's no more deserving organization."

"After debuting on the Inc. 5000 list last year, our team is thrilled to be recognized again this year on the distinguished list," said Shannon Litton, President and CEO of 5by5 Agency. "We talk a lot about having a 'double bottom line,' measuring both revenue and impact. While Inc. Magazine creates these rankings based purely on revenue growth, we know that every single dollar accounted for in that growth represents untold numbers of changed lives, communities and realities through the work our clients do, day in and day out. That's really the cause for this celebration. Our success is our client's success, and we're honored to be in the change-making business with them." Litton continued: "We're also excited to be listed alongside our high-performing neighbors in Middle Tennessee such as Freightwise and Michael Hyatt & Company. These companies, in a variety of industries, demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit of this incredible city where we are headquartered, and spurs us on to continued growth and even loftier goals for 2020." The Inc. 5000 list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy's most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. To produce the list, Inc. reviewed revenue growth from 2015 to 2018 and ranked companies according to percentage revenue growth during that same time period. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2015. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2018. Started in 1982, this prestigious list has become the hallmark of entrepreneurial success. "The companies on this year's Inc. 5000 have followed so many different paths to success," says Inc. editor in chief James Ledbetter. "There's no single course you can follow or investment you can take that will guarantee this kind of spectacular growth. But what they have in common is persistence and seizing opportunities. In addition to ranking No. 1684 on the list, 5by5 Agency also comes in at No.9 in Nashville's Fastest Growing Companies and No. 25 in Tennessee's Fastest Growing Companies. Working with clients such as the Tennessee Titans, Nashville Rescue Mission, Brentwood Academy, Show Hope and more, the agency helps change makers deliver messages with undeniable reach, clarity and results.

Earlier this year, SweeTARTS launched a new marketing campaign called "Be Both," celebrating the multi-dimensionality of its products, and its Gen Z brand fans who live unapologetically colorful lives. The new campaign champions Gen Z and their desire to reject one-dimensional definitions of identity, by celebrating their passions, expressions and tastes, and connecting this back to the brand's multitude of colliding flavors, textures and forms.

"SweeTARTS candies are never just one thing – they are long and short, flat and round, chewy and hard, sweet and tart. Our brand embraces surprising mash-ups, and embodies the idea of duality, just like Gen Z," said Ashley Incarnato, SweeTARTS Senior Brand Manager at Ferrara Candy Company. "SweeTARTS is thrilled to be collaborating with Christian Siriano to create a visual representation of "Be Both" because of his unique talent rejecting one-dimensional definitions in fashion, a key passion point for our core audience."

The motivation for BFREE started with trying to get Darrell’s (founder of BFREE CBD) mom her quality of life back. She was suffering from Paget’s disease and going to and from appointments just shouldn’t be the highlight of anyone’s day. They tried traditional medications, infusions, and even acupuncture but her pain from the skull enlargement due to the disease just wasn’t showing improvement.

Barbara, Darrell’s mom, started with a three dose regimen of CBD oils after the family asked her to try it multiple times. She was afraid of the stigma that was around anything cannabis related. Society perceptions and her religious environment were not sources of support initially. Her son Darrell was adamant they would perfect the dosage and quality of the product. Once he saw her pain levels getting back down to being manageable through experimenting with the concentration, dosage, and strains BFREE set out to do more. The company set out to not only to reduce pain and anxiety for individuals who need it, but a lifestyle that promotes health and well-being so that everyone’s quality of life can be improved.

BFREE CBD prides itself it finding the best growers and strains to invest into and create a product that the founder would recommend his mom. Building something that you want literally want everyone to use, including your mom, is something not a lot of companies can say.

Photographer, Jose Villa, selected the location because of its varied backdrops including the gorgeous pink hacienda, the historic horse ranch, manicured grounds, and more—lots of inspiration for any destination wedding! "Recently, I have noticed brides selecting their wedding venue based on recommendations from their wedding vendors so when I was approached by Kleinfeld to do a shoot, I was able to recommend the Hacienda San Antonio. I was inspired by the property the minute I laid my eyes on it and I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for trending wedding dresses," said Jose Villa. 3D printing creates invisible braces

3D printing in dentistry is one such high growth market, and one of the most high-profile dental products to be manufactured by 3D printing is the Invisalign transparent orthodontic aligners. These devices are produced by Align Technology, on 3D Systems' ProX SLA printers. The Invisalign product is designed to be aesthetically appealing, particularly to adult patients who wish to minimize the appearance of orthodontic appliances. Moreover, as a removable device, the patient has no difficulty with eating, and oral hygiene is simplified. Many competitors are now seeking to profit from this large and growing market.

Use Simplicity for An Eye-Catching Garden

Influencers caution individuals to refrain from being overzealous when it comes to gardening.

At times, individuals "focus too much on flowers," Andrychowicz says. "Most perennial plants and shrubs only bloom for a short time and can look pretty boring the rest of the year. For best results, stagger plants with colorful foliage and varying bloom times to give you year-round color and the best curb appeal."

At the start of every planting season, Andrychowicz and Rochow encourage individuals to trade plants with neighbors to add variety and help save on costs. This can easily be done by dividing perennials.

Travelers visiting the Nearest Green Distillery during its Phase One opening can expect to see the first of what is to be built on the 270-acre property, with buildings and experiences continuing to open over the next few years. Once fully open with all phases built out, the Nearest Green Distillery will not only serve as a place where Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is distilled, aged and bottled, but will pay homage to Nearest and the many other innovators and innovations from Tennessee. The distillery has turned the former site of the famous Sand Creek Farms, a Tennessee Walking Horse farm and event center, into a full-blown destination for whiskey enthusiasts, Walking Horse lovers and families.

Phase One of the Nearest Green Distillery will include:

  • A Tennessee Walking Horse experience where visitors will not only learn the history of the Walking Horse, but where more than 50 championship walking horses, and horses they sire, will continue to reside at the property.
  • The Welcome House, complete with a custom-made horseshoe bar where visitors will learn about and sample Uncle Nearest's award-winning whiskeys. It will be the only place in the world with tastings of all four expressions: Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey, Uncle Nearest 1884 Premium Small Batch Whiskey, Uncle Nearest 1820 Premium Single Barrel Whiskey and Nathan Green 1870 Premium Single Barrel Whiskey, an expression previously sold only in the U.K. A second-story Awards Mezzanine was built out to showcase some of the more than 50 awards the brand has already won.
  • A Copper Skies Experience where guests can sit in rocking chairs under a covered patio to see the most beautiful sunset in Tennessee. Visitors can sip on Uncle Nearest cocktails from Toppy's, a connecting bar named after the CEO's own horse, while watching the colors of the sunset.
  • A Full Retail Store, where visitors can purchase custom apparel, rare bottles of Uncle Nearest, and just about anything else Uncle Nearest makes.
  • The Bottling House open to the public, allowing visitors to take part in labeling the whiskey sold in the retail store. All four Uncle Nearest offerings will be bottled here.
  • A Hard Hat Tour, offered with every premium tasting. This experience walks visitors through the spaces under construction that will open in 2020, such as the single barrel warehouse and tasting room, as well as the Heritage Hall, an impressive collection of all things invented in Tennessee such as NASCAR, miniature golf, Moon Pies and Mountain Dew, with a special focus on Tennessee Whiskey, Walking Horses and country music.

On September 3rd, the non-profit American Public Education Foundation released the first-ever national report card on K-12 state-mandated personal financial education in all 50 states and the District of Columbia: Vision 2020 Financial Literacy Report Card, 2019-2020. The 50-state review points to a nation in crisis with regard to our schools' failure to prepare and educate K-12 students in personal finance and decision-making.

The APEF statewide analysis team was led by David A. Pickler, J.D., CFP®, ChFC®, CDFA®, an award-winning wealth advisor and education leader and one of Financial Times' 400 Top Advisors. Pickler also served as past president of the National School Boards Association and has been an education leader for more than 30 years.

"America is facing a growing epidemic," observes Pickler, who also serves as Executive Director of the non-profit American Public Education Foundation. "Our nation is rapidly sinking into a sea of debt and financial dependency. We have created a collective culture where it is acceptable to pursue bankruptcy as a solution to irresponsible financial behavior and decision making. Each of us has a responsibility to change this culture, to become accountable partners in preparing our children to make sound financial choices, or face the consequences that will undermine America's future and threaten our economic and national security interests."

This September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® is inspiring hundreds of thousands of people across the nation to unite behind a shared goal of ending childhood cancer.

September was proclaimed National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in 2012 to bring awareness to pediatric cancer, which remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 15. Since then, St. Jude has led the movement and conversation during this critical timeframe by mobilizing supporters, partners, celebrities and influencers to support the hospital's mission: Finding cures. Saving children.®

Throughout September, St. Jude supporters from coast to coast will join St. Jude Walk/Run events taking place in 63 communities. Supporters can also register for the St. Jude Walk/Run Virtual Event to walk, run and fundraise for the kids of St. Jude. Funds raised through events like these help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

"It is inspiring to see these communities come together and know that they are making an impact locally as well as nationally by supporting the St. Jude mission: Finding cures. Saving children.®," said Richard Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "We are grateful to all of the partners and St. Jude Walk/Run teams who have rallied together behind a shared goal of raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer."

In addition to events taking place nationwide, more than 30 national partners are supporting St. Jude through various Childhood Cancer Awareness Month activities in September. Partners include Kmart, Chili's® Bar & Grill, Pier 1, Amazon, Shaw Floors, CBS Sports, Touchdowns Against Cancer, CARS, Varsity Brands, Window World, Paypal, Lancôme, Jewelers for Children, Cox Automotive, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, ARS Rescue Rooter, Texas de Brazil, Nora Fleming, Publishers Clearing House, Pollo Campero, Nurse Mates, My Salon Suite, Coton Colors, Bimbo USA, Blo Blow Dry Bar, Winston Flowers, Sears, Ocean Spray, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, SAINT, Lamps Plus and New Balance.

In 2018, the program reached more than 14,000 youth through classroom presentations, summer camps, shelter visits, after school clubs, contests and special events. OHS educators visited 59 schools and 165 classrooms throughout the Portland metro area to teach students about the humane treatment of animals. Classroom education is offered at no cost to schools and all expenses are covered by OHS. OnPoint's support will allow OHS to invest in additional visibility for the program.

In addition to the support of the OHS Humane Education program, a team of OnPoint volunteers will be visiting the OHS shelter in September 2019. The team will learn more about the program's impact and help socialize dogs and cats. Regular interaction with humans is a key part of helping animals prepare to be adopted. OnPoint also sponsors the Oregon Humane Society annual Doggie Dash event.

"OnPoint was an ideal partner for us because it is so committed to supporting educational initiatives within the community," said Sarah Yusavitz, Corporate Relations Officer at Oregon Humane Society. "OnPoint's support will help to raise the profile of this unique education program that advances our mission to foster a more humane society."

Tickets for the event, taking place on Sunday, September 29 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tenn., are available now by visiting www.alz.org/danceparty. The evening will also include a silent auction with exclusive packages available for online bidding open to guests in attendance and remote bidders. Sponsorship packages are also available via www.alz.org/danceparty.

"We're ecstatic to have the support of these fantastic musicians and the Music City community for 'Dance Party to End Alz,'" said Kimberly Williams-Paisley. "To be able to rally the Nashville community for a fun night out benefiting the Alzheimer's Association is truly inspirational. More than 5 million Americans are living with this disease, including 120,000 people in the state of Tennessee alone. A challenge this great is going to take all of us coming together to find a cure."

For the sake of our kids' future, it is important they get back on track when they have slipped into addiction while using drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism. Research showed that students of stressed or 'burnt out' teachers had elevated levels of cortisol, which has been associated with learning difficulties as well as mental health problems.

Teaching is seen as a "noble" profession, which makes it difficult for educators to seek treatment for mental health or addiction issues openly. "Also, many teachers also do not fully realize that addiction is a chronic disease that calls for treatment," said Dr. Cidambi. Consequently, teachers oftentimes seek treatment after they have progressed deeper into addiction and they balk at the default inpatient detoxification and rehab option that treats addiction like a behavioral problem that needs to be punished. "Addiction is a chronic disease and, like diabetes or HIV, outpatient treatment, including detoxification, delivers better outcomes due to the integration of real life into treatment," added Dr. Cidambi. Not surprisingly, teachers strongly prefer the outpatient treatment model for addiction.

In addition to supporting the NFFF at the Firehouse Expo, LENOX will donate $15,000 to the Foundation during an experiential event that will be held at the NFFF's headquarters in Emmitsburg, MD in late October. During the event, LENOX will showcase fire and rescue blades through a live car-cutting demonstration and representatives from the NFFF will speak about the importance of fast, reliable rescue equipment.

Although this is its first formal partnership with the NFFF, LENOX has produced specialized fire and rescue blades for more than 20 years. These reciprocating saw blades provide heroes with an edge when speed and efficiency matter most, especially  during vehicle extrications, demolition, and entanglement. Innovations such as POWER BLAST TECHNOLOGY® and the patented T2™ Technology prevent bending during cutting, optimize chip removal, and help to reduce cutting forces on each tooth of the blade.

Dear Savingmyjob,

I wish I had more details as to what kind of unwanted attention you are getting because I would advise you first to show him through your actions that whatever type of attention he is giving you is making you feel uncomfortable. If he is getting too close when you talk and invading your personal space, it’s okay to step back and put some space between you two. If he is asking you to do things you don’t feel comfortable with, you have the right to speak up and tell him you don’t feel comfortable. If he is touching you inappropriately, you need to tell him to stop. Excusing his actions for any reason won’t change the behavior. Sometimes we interact with each other and unknowingly cause discomfort with conversation, physical touch, or simply invading one’s personal space. Either way, it needs to be addressed at the time so the person—in this case your boss—knows their behavior needs to be corrected.

As far as being worried about losing your job, there are laws that prevent this from happening. But understand that no matter how direct, honest and kind you might be, there’s always a chance that your message won’t be received the right way. To prevent any type of backlash, documenting each occurrence and going to human resources or neutral parameters your job has set in place will protect all parties involved. It is an employer’s responsibility to create a safe workplace environment for every employee; if anyone, especially a supervisor, is making you feel uneasy, my advice is to address your supervisor, keep proper documentation and inform human resources. Stand up for yourself with confidence and set professional boundaries according to your comfort level.

XOXO,

Jennifer

Now it's Time to Bake!

After adding the pasta to the cheese sauce, spoon into a large baking dish, scatter breadcrumbs (optional), and more shredded cheese on top. Bake, uncovered, in a 375-degree Fahrenheit oven until bubbling and browned on top; 25 to 30 minutes.

Dear Ms. Loveless,

Falling in-love again is absolutely possible, even when you two were not in the beginning. Love is a verb, but it is also a series of chemical reactions in your body over a sustained period of time. At this crossroad in your marriage you have a choice to make. Rebuild and rework your marriage to rekindle that love until you are in-love, or let these sparks fizzle out. The definitions of being in-love redefine itself throughout marriage, but those in-love feelings (however you define them) can definitely be brought back to the surface and made available to the two of you. All of this takes work however after 33 years of marriage I would think that would be something worth fighting for.

XOXO,

Jennifer

Dear Cheatedon,

It is absolutely possible to repair your marriage after this affair; as long as the affair has truly ended, and both you and your husband are willing to do whatever it takes to process, repair and recover. Just know after you both decide to reconcile your marriage; the real work begins. Your husband first needs to share vital details about his affair — how long it lasted, what he told his affair partner about your marriage — so you can decide to forgive “with eyes wide open.” In my experience, it’s not affairs that solely cause the end of marriages: It’s the unfaithful spouse’s inability to be honest about what happened and leave the affair behind them. You hold the cards in this situation. Your husband has to prove to you that your relationship is worth saving, and that he can be trusted again. Forgiveness after betrayal doesn’t happen overnight, but it can happen. Let me say again, you both need to want to repair this marriage; because moving forward will require time, honesty, patience and effort on both ends. As an effect of the deep emotions associated with betrayal, and grief that often follows the discovery of an affair, I would encourage you to seek out professional help. If you feel like this process is not something you can handle on your own, a professional marriage counselor can establish a neutral environment for you and your spouse to effectively communicate and rebuild your marriage.

XOXO,

Jennifer

St. Jude President and CEO James R. Downing, M.D., introduced Huckleberry and Puggle—along with their primary Child Life handlers Shandra Taylor and Brittany Reed—to staff at a special Town Hall held in the Marlo Thomas Center on Sept. 16. An avid dog fan, Downing has been an enthusiastic and early supporter of the program, suggested by Child Life and the Patient and Family Experience office.

"At St. Jude, we work to ensure patients and their families have the best experience possible while at the hospital," said Downing. "The Paws at Play dogs will help children by offering therapeutic support, giving unconditional acceptance and providing motivation through social interaction. The program is a natural fit with our philosophy of making every day the best day possible."

This is the first time St. Jude has participated in service dog programming in the hospital. Because St. Jude patients often have weakened immune systems, departments teamed to create new policies for the program. Among their workday duties, the dogs will help patients achieve clinical goals as well as provide social interaction, stress reduction and sensory stimulation.

The dogs join nineteen full-time child life specialists working at St. Jude. The departmental goal of Child Life is to help children cope with the challenges of health care and hospitalization. Their services are offered to all families in all clinical areas.

"I am most excited to see the powerful effect that a dog will have on our patients," said child life specialist Brittany Reed.  "We hope to provide emotional support and do things like motivating children to get out of bed and walk after surgeries or helping to prepare patients for surgeries by helping with non-sedated scans."

MIA and CasaLuz began their partnership in 2016 to provide holistic legal representation and victim advocacy to Hispanic and Latinx survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. This award provides continuation funding for the partners' collaboration for the years 2019 through 2022.

CasaLuz is the anchor of the project, as the region's first and only culturally specific victim advocacy and support agency serving immigrant survivors. "CasaLuz was founded in 2015 to meet the unique needs of Hispanic victims of abuse, who face barriers accessing suitable services," says Inés Negrette, Executive Director and founder of CasaLuz. "Through this grant, our organizations help vulnerable clients break the cycle of abuse and move forward to lives free from violence."

MIA and CasaLuz are pleased to have the opportunity to continue supporting the Hispanic and Latinx communities by empowering victims with access to justice, healing, and safety.

Join Mid-South Immigration Advocates, CasaLuz, and the Refugee Empowerment Program on October 4, 2019 for a half-day training on the impact of domestic violence on immigrant and refugee communities in the Mid-South. This training will provide participants with an understanding of the unique dynamics of domestic violence in immigrant and refugee communities, including the cultural aspects of domestic violence, the effects on children, and barriers to justice.

The Tennessee Housing Development Agency is a leading voice for affordable housing opportunities in the state. Its support of the Carter Work Project builds on a long legacy of bringing stability to the residential construction and related industries in order to drive the production of new housing units. THDA is a primary administrator for numerous federal and state housing programs and is authorized to issue tax-exempt Mortgage Revenue Bonds that open doors for first-time homebuyers and veterans. The Tennessee Housing Development Agency also provided support to the 2016 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Memphis.

The Barnes Housing Trust Fund, overseen by the Nashville mayor's office, provides grants for renovation or construction of affordable housing units. The fund's support of Habitat aligns with its overarching mission to increase affordable housing options in Nashville. To date, the fund has invested more than $37 million in affordable housing development and rehabilitation and has leveraged more than $183 million of federal and private funding for the construction of more than 1,700 housing units.

"In Nashville alone, home prices have increased 74 percent since 2012. Nationally, nearly 39 million households are paying more than they can afford for their homes," said Danny Heron, president and chief executive officer for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville. "The national and local need for affordable housing is staggering, which is why it's inspiring to see organizations like the Barnes Housing Trust Fund and the Tennessee Housing Development Agency rally to help families in need of affordable homes here in Nashville."

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA), the fastest-growing Asian brand in the U.S. for the second consecutive year, confirmed the location for the company's permanent headquarters in the Cool Springs district of Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.

The company has signed a long-term lease, and will occupy the top two floors of the greenfield-developed Northside at McEwen building when it is completed in early spring, 2020. The building is located at 4015 Aspen Grove Drive, Franklin, TN 37067.

"Our move to Tennessee marks the most visible part of the broad and substantive reinvention of every aspect of our business that is underway at Mitsubishi Motors North America," said Fred Diaz, MMNA's president and chief executive officer.  "While we cannot wait to move to our permanent home, there is so much 'great' happening around the company now and in the near future.  With a brave new leadership team, new-look dealerships and all-new vehicles, the future is indeed bright for Mitsubishi Motors."

Developed by Boyle Investment Company, long known across the Southeast for its premier locations, innovative design, and long-range planning, Northside at McEwen is the pinnacle of Boyle's development work.  The facility will offer office, retail, industrial, and residential facilities, all to create a live-work-play destination.

MMNA will occupy approximately 40,000 square feet in the building, comprised of the entire top – the seventh – floor, and approximately half of the sixth floor.  Working spaces will be open and airy, flooded with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows.  Walls will be minimized to maintain the bright and open feel, and fixed offices, conference rooms and quiet rooms will be clustered in the central core of the floors, again to maintain clear views and preserve natural light.

Additionally, MMNA will have the exclusive external signage rights on the building, and the brand's famed three-diamond logo will be clearly visible.

Corporate relocation specialists Jones Lang LaSalle have been instrumental in supporting MMNA's cross-country move, and assisted in every aspect of the lease process, both to secure the new building and to assist with the sale of the company's former campus in Cypress, California.

When making the decision to move away from its long-time home in Cypress, the company chose Franklin as its new home because it allows MMNA to focus its efforts on company-wide reinvention and take advantage of the area's vibrant technology skillset, all while realizing cost savings through the business-friendly work environment.

Major actions that have been underway at MMNA over the past 18 months include:

  • 80 percent of the leadership team is new to the company or newly promoted to the role, bringing new experiences, backgrounds and a diversity of thought to the team
  • 48 new dealer partners have been appointed across the country
  • MMNA's regional network has been expanded from two offices to four (Cypress, Calif.; Irving, Texas; Swedesboro, New York; Lake Mary, Fla.)
  • The company has been the fastest growing Asian brand in the U.S. for two consecutive years
  • The company has seen six-straight years of annual sales growth, and is poised to record a seventh at the end of this calendar year

Mitsubishi Motors North America is Hiring
MMNA is currently located in temporary facilities in the SPACES Mallory Green building.  As part of the move, the company is hiring 150 people to help craft its future, with more than 50 already hired.  Individuals interested in the challenge of helping a company reinvent every aspect of how it goes to market may access open positions at www.MitsubishiCars.com/careers, and can apply online.

The Facts about Domestic Violence

On average, 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States — more than 12 million women and men over the course of a year.

Nearly three in ten women (29%) and one in ten men (10%) in the US have experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by a partner.

Nearly, 15% of women (14.8%) and 4% of men have been injured as a result of Intimate Partner Violence that included rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

One in four women (24.3%) and one in seven men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the United States have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Domestic violence has side effects that hurt in many cases far more than the pain of the abuse itself. Victims in many cases are isolated and left feeling trapped with no where to turn, no way to provide for themselves, and with a feeling of worthlessness. Many victims find themselves feeling like they are somehow at fault.

During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month the team here at JustMy is excited to spend the month sharing stories of life after domestic abuse and providing help and awareness to groups and organizations that provide resources for victims.

"Our partnership with Nashville Predators and our association with this world-class arena continue to be great sources of pride and positive exposure for the Bridgestone brand," said Gordon Knapp, CEO and president, Bridgestone Americas. "Extending our relationship for the next eleven years represents the longest sports partnership commitment in our company's history, which is a reflection of our belief in the Middle Tennessee community and the incredible vision of our hometown hockey franchise."

3D printing enables affordable prosthetics for growing children

An inspiring movement to emerge is the use of 3D printing to create affordable prosthetics for children. Traditional prosthetics can cost between $5000 and $50,000 and provide an insurmountable financial challenge for parents, as children require a new prosthetic every few months. Charitable organizations such as e-NABLE are using 3D printing to create hands and arms from open source designs to relieve this burden from parents around the world. Not only are the prosthetics affordable, but the lead times are decreased relative to the lengthy customization process of traditional prosthetics. While this application has limited contribution to the overall market value, there are significant unmet needs in the field of prosthetics that are going to be met by 3D printing technology.

IDTechEx have published a series of market intelligence reports related to 3D printing technology and applications. To find out more, please refer to www.IDTechEx.com/research/3D.

Make Your Neighbors Green with Envy

Curb appeal mistakes aren't solely limited to gardening; they apply to lawn care too.

According to Rochow, a surefire way to ruin a yard's aesthetic involves fertilizing. "Over-fertilizing can cause grass to turn yellow and create bald spots," he says. "Instead, use a time-release fertilizer, as it's much less likely to 'burn' your grass."

He also recommends keeping grass longer to deliver a fuller look and prevent lawn damage from the sun.

GRIT Field Test

As part of the five-month contract awarded in June 2019, IBM is facilitating a field test for the VA's GRIT tool. Partners for the field test include Total Brain, Burning Glass and collaboration with organizations including Easter Seals, the Wounded Warrior ProjectAmerican Warrior Partnership and the National Guard. The field test will engage veterans, active-duty service members, and reservists, to use the GRIT digital solution in a real-life setting to evaluate the user experience and usefulness of the solution, and to provide feedback for improvements. The test begins today and is set to end in November 2019.

"We are thrilled to partner with IBM to address the health and well-being of the VA community with easy-to-use, ubiquitous and adaptive technology that recognizes the importance of both individual and social determinants. The very concept of well-being is a holistic one; hence, its improvement must come from a holistic solution. Furthermore, we cannot think of a more deserving community," said Louis Gagnon, CEO, Total Brain.

IBM's contract with the VA was awarded in June and runs until November. Following the conclusion of the contract and based upon field testers' feedback, IBM will develop a comprehensive plan for the full launch of GRIT. GRIT is the first instantiation of a bigger platform called THRIVE360° of Mental Fitness, which IBM intends to deploy with other communities under stress or in transition.

Elon unveiled the new Tesla Roadster 2020, a brand new four-seat electric convertible, at the end of Tesla's semi-truck event on November 17, 2017.  Musk claims that this will be "the fastest production car ever made, period," and that the prototype is capable of reaching speeds over 250 mph.  This is record-breaking for a production car, and this Roadster is capable of a quarter mile in 8.8 seconds!

He says the car will have a 620-mile highway range: to put this battery life in perspective, it will last a round trip between LA and San Francisco at highway speeds.  Even more incredible is that some Roadster models will apparently be equipped with ten rocket engines, more technically "cold air thrusters," and can even *hover* using these.  Musk aleges that these small rocket engines will “dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking and cornering” and will be subtle, hidden behind the license plate.

Dylan returned to Columbia Studio A in February 1969 to work on Nashville Skyline.

"Bob asked me to be a guest on the album," Johnny Cash said later, "and I went to the studio and they just turned on the recorder for about two hours." Columbia Studio A hosted two Dylan-Cash sessions: February 17 and 18, 1969 with a band that included rock 'n' roll pioneer Carl Perkins playing guitar on six tracks (including his own composition, "Matchbox"). One of the more intriguing sonic discoveries on Travelin' Thru is "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright/Understand Your Man," as two singular singer/songwriters pay mutual compositional and vocal tribute to each other.

The full-day Dylan-Cash duet session included the first known version of "Wanted Man" and the only version of the song ever sung by Dylan. The following week, Cash made it the opening song at his San Quentin concert. The session provides insight into the shared sensibilities of Dylan and Cash through a variety of covers including two Jimmie Rodgers medleys.

When The Johnny Cash Show was scheduled to debut in June 1969, the host offered Bob Dylan a guest slot on the first show. In the days before and after The Johnny Cash Show taping, Dylan was working on the album that emerged more than a year later as Self Portrait. For the May 3 Self Portrait session, guitarist Fred Carter was brought in to augment Dylan's usual Nashville band. The "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Ring of Fire" recorded that day are available for the first time on Travelin' Thru.

Although only one duet with Johnny Cash ("Girl from the North Country") appears on Dylan's original Nashville Skyline album, Cash penned the album's Grammy Award-winning liner notes. A month after Nashville Skyline was released, Dylan made his first live TV appearance in five years on The Johnny Cash Show; that performance is also included here.

Please look at me, Dad.

I used to think that the worst thing I’ve ever done was running away or stealing that car. Then I thought it was enjoying being caught, because surely I was meant to be suffering in juvie, wasn’t I? But now, I think the very worst thing I’ve ever done was hang up that phone.

So Dad, I’m sorry. Every time I look at you, or hear your voice, or think about you, I am back on the other end of a telephone line, unable to explain to you that I am going to be okay. And I’m sorry if every time you think about me, you still wonder whether I have a screw loose or something.

I’m okay, Dad. But I’m sorry–I just don’t know how to explain that to you.

Q & A Session

Q. Probally not the question you’re looking for, but how did it feel to get stabbed? What happened? What first aid did you receive? (ShibiStorm)

A. To be honest I didn’t know I got stabbed. I didn’t feel it. The actual stabbing cut the ligaments in my neck which weekend the structure. Then I was knocked down and hit my forehead on the ground. The first thing that happened was an immediate PING sound. I thought to myself “Oh I must be about to be knocked out,” but that never happened. Then I went to get up and couldn’t move anything at all. Then my friends picked my up (never do this with a neck injury) and drove me to the hospital. I was so convinced that I had just fallen that I actually got into an argument with the police officer who came and asked me who stabbed me. The first few months are really blurry. I was on a ton of medications. I remember a lot of anxiety attacks, particularly at night because I couldn’t move to get comfortable. Then months and months of physical rehab.

Q. Since your injury, have you found things you are passionate about that you were not previously? Have you been able to accomplish certain things you set out to do? (truebouta)

A. Yeah definitely. I’ve gotten really into science, philosophy, theology, physics, metaphysics… all kinds of random interesting subjects that I probably never would have gotten into if it weren’t for the injury. As for accomplishments, after my injury I decided to start college and got my degree in IT. I was pretty proud of that.

Q. Was the attacker caught? (paraphrased – squishysquishh)

A. So growing up I was friends with everyone; the nerds, the stoners, the cowboys, jocks, and the gangsters. For some reason I just seemed to click with everyone. While I was in the hospital a guy who I had been friends with, definitely what you would consider a gangster, (for context he’s currently serving a life sentence in prison) came to my hospital room. He told me he knew who had stabbed me, lifted up his shirt, flashed me a gun, and said “Give me the word and I’ll take care of it.” I told him “no, that’s not what I wanted.” and that was the end of it. I’ve been told by a few other people that they knew who the guy was, but there were never any arrests made or anything like that. I have forgiven him though, and wish no ill will.

Q. Could you expand on your sporadic movements and sensations? How long did it take before you started feeling and moving, and what therapies have you done that led to these results? (laserfazer)

A. So yeah. This is a bit hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it. I’ll do my best. There are times when I feel… sort of an energy build up in my stomach, or legs, or hands. When I feel that build up, say in my stomach, I’ll try to do a sit up. My stomach flexes super hard and I can usually get my head and shoulders off the bed on the first try. The second try it’ll be a little weaker, and so on. Usually I can get 4-5 flexes off before things shut down. The sensation is pretty consistent, I guess the sporadic-ness of it is just how much sensation there is. Sometimes I’ll have about 60% sensation in my right leg, sometimes 30%.

The amount of time it’s taken for everything is different, and it’s so gradual that I couldn’t tell you exactly how long it took. The movement in my biceps and upper forearms took a few months, the rest has been accomplished over years.

I’ve used all kinds of things to try to stimulate the nerves in my body. Electrodes, vibrating massagers, heat & cold stimulation. There are 2 things that I would give the most credit to though, different types of supplements, and meditation. I can make a list of different supplements I’ve used if anyone’s interested. The meditation is a bit… unexplainable (to me at least) though. A lot of times if I’m having trouble I can zone out, put myself in a trance like state, and then it’s like for a brief instance my body and mind are in sync and I can move.

And that’s the next adventure, as everyone has been asking. I moved to Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, and am basing out of here as I start to write a book about the journey, schedule speaking engagements around the country to share the lessons/experiences from this project (if you’d like me to visit your area, learn more here), and hopefully finding a TV channel who wants to work with me to make it financially sustainable to continue doing adventures that challenge stereotypes, encourage people to live fully, and uses travel to make the world a better place.

I can already hear people asking “Why Minneapolis!?” as the journalists did. But after driving around the entirety of America, I think it’s the best place for what I need right now. While there are many awesome places in the country I’d love to live, Minneapolis is the only city with a large gay population where one can live in the “gayborhood” (or the closest the Twin Cities has) and easily pay under $1,000-a-month in rent. That affordability mixed with its size (4 million, 15th largest MSA in the U.S.) make it ideal for someone in my situation looking to have a personal life again after 3 years of being a nomad, and trying to make a living essentially as an artist, with speaking appearances and writing opportunities coming in waves (I’ll continue to add public appearances at facebook.com/mikahmey/events).

Minneapolis’ central location and Delta-airport hub is also super helpful for traveling to those speaking engagements, and the city has a light rail which takes people to/from the airport for just $2.50 each way (a welcome change from the DC metro that could be $7-8 each way on public transportation).

Yes, it will be very cold for a large chunk of the year, and I admittedly am a little scared of how I’ll handle that after 3 years of chasing temperate weather for van living. But I’m excited by the ability to have a place to come home to, and look forward to what adventures–and places–this relocation will take me.

One way or another, he was going to be someone's Target or someone was going to be his Target

What we saw last night here in Memphis was nothing short of Shameless self-centeredness self-pity and nothing short of worthless and disgusting. People in my generation coming out into the streets throwing rocks and bottles at police officers for doing that job and trying to keep the peace attacking journalist for reporting the news and just trying to cover what is really going on here and of course calling for the harms of law enforcement officers and their families. Which is not the first time that this has happened in Memphis nor nationally in fact is an epidemic and in my mind and I sit is considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. What we witnessed last night is this was no ordinary spur-of-the-moment issue this was a clear riot and an assault on our sense of democracy in our city not to mention our country. Not to mention this is also another example of rush to conclusions and public crucifixions and in some ways mass lynchings of law enforcement through social media. We've also known this is how almost immediately after having people were coming up saying he was a good kid let's be real here no good kid would point a gun at law enforcement to get killed no good kid would rob someone and try to take their own life over something as materialistic as a car and no good kid would go on social media bragging about the drug game and pointing guns and pictures just to show how big and tough he is That's not a good kid that's a menace to society who in One Way or Another was going to be someone's Target or someone was going to be his Target. As sad as it maybe for me to say this but it needs to be said he left this world the same way he came in both Stand Out tough and bold he is but not strong enough a bold enough to realize that there's so much more he can do for this world if you start to think for himself and not continue to go with The Fray.

Anytime you hear about the shootings there's always the narrative from people that know him or from people that live in that area that he was a good kid. When in reality if you check your social media page and if you all people behind the scenes what type of person was, he really tells you straight up he was a type of person who never wanted to take responsibility for his own actions and he was never the type of person that really never took life seriously until then. It's amazing how so many people claim that this guy was a good person only when he's taking his last breath and getting ready to go meet Jesus but in reality most of them probably didn't want nothing to do with him except just to be pictures and boost about how cool he is. Around 9 that evening Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer had arrived and saw the whole situation from police cars being destroyed officers being injured journalist being attacked and injured and yet the next day she said there was no Riot and if you say it's a riot it's a racially insensitive term. I got news for you baby girl it was a riot it was embarrassing it was a debauchery and if you are black and you're saying that this was a peaceful protest you are not doing the black community any favors except enabling the behavior and telling the Next Generation we expect for you to do this or worse. Keep in mind this is a woman who's running for mayor who's only been politics for 10 months the traditional opportunist who seeks the perfect opportunity just to get vote and who's saying she's doing something good for the community when in reality she doesn't even know these people and wants nothing to do with them until it's voting time.

When it comes to Ms. Sawyer and those who defend this type of behavior and from those who are SJWs that surrounds them no one from the black community have spoken out against her and others like her have said and their attitudes for this type of ratchetness. So I'm going to explain from a black prospective why black Memphians ain't speaking out against her and others like her and how it would affect them. When it comes to Tami Sawyer and people who are like her why they think at what happened last night was not a riot or nothing majorly wrong is because of the racial angle. And what I mean by that is for a long time in the eyes of black people they feel like they have been neglected by dolls in the white establishment in the city and in this country. When in reality they put themselves in this situation for decades and in some cases generations to wear it would be almost impossible for someone who does want to leave that situation of economic Despair and depravity to leave. A lot of it also has to deal with the fact that many people want change but they're not really ready to accept change especially if there's the potential increase of gentrification. Especially for my economical and cultural shift which could benefit the area in a major way but at the same time it would make those in the area make that area much less desirable for them to live in and more desirable for those that can't afford to live in. Another question is why has a lot of black residents in our great city continue to stand by people like her or others like this every time, something like this happens especially in 2016 when protesters ran on the bridge stop in both lanes of traffic and for damn sure in politics and someone as well known that her for making comments that may be seen idiotic say that using the word riot is a term as racial insensitive we tend to sugarcoat it and move on. But when it's whites or other races who say what she said it becomes national news.

In the black community we have become the race of hypocrisy, the most self-centeredness, the most sensitive race, the most insecure race and double standard when it comes to a lot of things especially race and definitely racism from our own race. However, if a black person called her and others out for support this behavior then that person would face 2 things: the fear factor and facing the four Rs Retaliation, Rebellion, Repercussions, and Ridicule from the black community which is known as "The Predator and the Prey Contents." The person that calls out the wrong is "the Prey" and the person that is criticizing is "The Predator." The Predator and The Prey always takes place within the same race. We have seen it recently with Andrew Clarksenior being criticized by the Rev LaSimba Grey for talking about the blight in Memphis. Les Smith has also been a victim of "Predator and the Prey" and countless others. However, if a white person called out anyone that's of course the behavior of last night and those people verbally attacks that person then that is the "Offense and Defense Contents." Joe Birch when he interviewed Dr. Herenton, Same as Camron Harper, Darrell Greene when he interviewed Henri Brooks, and countless others have been the victims of "The Offense and Defense Contents." The main reason that no one in the black community doesn't want to speak out against what happened last night or about what Tami Sawyer and others like her have said is because of fear and what could happen if they do speak out. Whether verbal or physical attacks from her or her supporters or those who think the Marshalls should be criminal charged with murder. Tami Sawyer has become her own worst enemy, and she doesn't even know it. Not to mention the fact that she's a Separatist, Narcissist, and Antagonist and has the "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN" Mentality. Just like Henri Brooks.

The Side Effects Campaign Launch Video

Bridgestone and the Predators celebrated the new extension as part of the team's annual season-opening Preds Fest at the arena. The announcement was punctuated by the official unveiling of the arena's new scoreboard, FangVision – a massive, state-of-the-art video centerpiece that will hang above the Predators' home ice. Complete with four illuminated fangs on its corners and 4.2 million LED pixels, the structure has nearly 300 percent more primary board size than its predecessor. While the new scoreboard was operational during the preseason, Preds Fest marked the first full-scale reveal of its capabilities.

"Bridgestone Americas has been a driving force behind the Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena from the moment they helped save and stabilize the team for all of Smashville over 10 years ago," said Sean Henry, President and CEO of the Nashville Predators. "They believed in our city and the impact a thriving team could have upon it, and by aligning their brand with ours gave us a foundation from which we could successfully build. Our year over year growth on virtually every front and our current upward trajectory we enjoy is directly linked to their renewed faith in what we can achieve together. It is no coincidence that our alignment with Bridgestone has driven us to become one of the busiest venues in North America centered around a perennial Stanley Cup contending Nashville Predators team. With downtown Nashville being each of our forever homes, it is natural for our partnership to continue that long as well."

In its nine years as Bridgestone Arena, the venue has firmly established itself as a local landmark and the anchor of Nashville's Lower Broadway – one of North America's most popular tourist destinations. The arena continues to break attendance records while annually hosting more than 1 million people, and its ability to deliver a world-renowned fan experience has garnered recognition across the industry. Recent highlights include:

  • Named Arena of the Year by the International Entertainment Buyers Association for 2010, 2015 and 2017, and is a finalist for the award again for 2018;
  • Named a finalist for Pollstar's Arena of the Year award for 11 consecutive years, winning the honor in 2014 and 2017;
  • Have hosted 153 consecutive sold-out Nashville Predators' games, including three in the 2017 Stanley Cup Final;
  • Ranked fourth in the U.S. and 15th in the world for concert ticket sales in 2018 according to Pollstar;
  • Announced as home to the SEC Men's or Women's Basketball Tournament each year through 2035 while also continuing to host to the annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards and Country Music Television (CMT) Awards.

These accomplishments reflect Bridgestone Arena's continued focus on one primary mission, which is to be the No. 1 sports and entertainment venue in North America with a Stanley Cup Champion Nashville Predators franchise as its centerpiece.

New to CBD?

The Endocannabinoid System

In 1988, the first cannabinoid receptor was discovered in the brain of a rat. Researchers found that these receptors reacted specifically to THC, and were found primarily found in regions of the brain responsible for mental and physiological processes such as memory, high cognition, emotion, and motor coordination.

Two years later, in 1993, the second cannabinoid receptor was found as part of the immune and central nervous systems. It was then that researchers started to realize that they may have been onto something, but these receptors were only found in rodents, so what’s the big deal right?

Fast forward to 1995, researchers discovered that these receptors, now officially referred to as the CB1 receptor and CB2 receptor, were found not only in rats, but within thousands of other species, including humans.

Thanks to advancements in technology and knowledge and tons of clinical trials, researchers were able to reverse engineer what they’d discovered, trace back through the metabolic pathways of various cannabinoids, and uncover an entirely unknown signaling system between the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our bodies and receptors found in Cannabis compounds, which they called “endocannabinoids.”

Due to the role of endocannabinoids in this system, the system was officially named the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

Is CBD Legal to Use?

So this is obviously a very important question for new users, but there isn’t exactly a one-size-fits-all answer.

Over the last 50 years, governments of the world prosecuted Cannabis for its psychoactive effects and deemed it as a “gateway drug.” Because of this, the world formed a negative perspective about Cannabis and anything related to it.

Now, thankfully, the general opinion is starting to shift in a positive direction, but there has still been a lasting impact on society, including our governing laws.

Every country has its own laws governing Cannabis and its compounds. In America, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has deemed CBD as federally illegal; while, at the state level, each state has its own laws on the matter, which is pretty confusing.

In one state CBD may be completely legal, while being illegal in another. Some US States even have different laws if the CBD is derived from hemp oil or medical marijuana.

With that being said, there isn’t a general answer to this question “Is it Legal to Use CBD?”.

At the federal level, and in most states, hemp-derived CBD is 100% legal, which is great news, as most CBD products are hemp-derived. Laws around marijuana-derived CBD are becoming less strict, but whether its hemp-derived or marijuana-derived strongly advise doing some research on your state’s CBD laws.

Learn More About Positive Physics

Instead of suiting up and hunting for investors he shared his idea with a friend after a game of basketball. Anthony Fizer, a developer, said let's just do this ourselves. There was plenty of quality control needed and what better place than in the classrooms Jack was already leading. Soulsville students were there for the launch of positivephysics.org, three months after the initial discussion of the project, the students have been providing valuable feedback and perspective ever since. Today, however, teachers and students from around the world have joined them in the effort to learn physics, positively.

Shout out to Jack and Anthony for sharing your stories behind this awesome thing you have created. Pernally I ennjoyed seeing a team doing something locally that has a positive impact beyond the city of Memphis. Let's see if we can get more people using your platform!

It is essential for people to educate themselves about the facts surrounding mental health. According to the World Health Organization, one in four people in the world will be impacted by a mental health issue in their lifetime. Another important fact is that people who do seek mental health services report decreases in their symptoms such as depression and anxiety and generally report feeling better. Clients also report that they feel more supported and not so alone.

Clients who have seen me have said that they felt a sense of relief and that a weight was lifted off their shoulders. They have also stated that they wish they'd started going to counseling years ago. Simply having someone objective to talk to can help provide the support that people need.

According to Psychology Today, people should consider seeking mental health services if they don't feel like themselves, they've started abusing substances or abusing activities like gambling, they've experienced loss or something traumatic, or they've stopped doing activities that they normally enjoy. Additionally, changes in appetite or sleep patterns can also be signs that something needs to be addressed.

If you or a loved one needs mental health services, please feel free to call Ferren Family Counseling Center at 901-498-9126 where a variety of counselors are there to assist you and give you the support you need.

Siriano designed the look using the SweeTARTS Original and Mini Chewy products as inspiration. He chose a textured stretch crepe fabric that is soft, but also gives a sense of structure for the suiting. The fringe was inspired by SweeTARTS Ropes, adding some movement and drama to the dress. The overall inspiration of the look embodies the "Be Both" ethos that the brand has adopted.

"It's impressive to see a candy brand really think about the world today, and want to be as inclusive and diverse as our society is becoming," said Siriano. "This project was such a great fit for me because this is how I design and live my life every day! Anyone can be anything, and even candy can be more than one thing."

The ensemble will make its public debut at Siriano's runway show during the upcoming New York Fashion Week, worn by a special celebrity guest who will be seated front row.

According to The Aspen Institute, 16% of suicides in the US occur in response to a financial problem. Further, a USA TODAY report states that less than one-fourth of young Americans ages 18 to 26 are "very optimistic" about their financial futures.

Classroom instruction is vital toward reversing a 2018 Forbes headline that warns "how badly America is failing at financial literacy." APEF joins a growing roster of financial and education experts who call for financial education at an early age to combat our nation's escalating financial crisis.

Report Card Methodology: Drawing upon state legislation, graduation requirements, standards, and curriculum, the APEF report card grades each state's financial literacy instruction. The report card only gave three states – Missouri, Utah, and Virginia – an "A" grade for mandating personal financial education across grades K-12 and requiring a stand-alone personal finance course for high school graduation. Thirteen (13) states received a "B," 20 states received a "C," and 11 states received a "D." Four states – Alaska, D.C., Rhode Island, and South Dakota – received an "F" for failing to guarantee any financial literacy instruction in K-12 schools.

Model Legislation: In addition to aggregating and disseminating best practices around financial literacy, APEF has available for immediate download model state legislation of benefit to policymakers or educators seeking to require a stand-alone personal finance course as a mandatory prerequisite to high school graduation.

ABOUT OREGON HUMANE SOCIETY
OHS is the largest humane society in the Northwest and adopts more animals from its Portland shelter than any other single-facility shelter on the West Coast. OHS puts no time limits on how long animals remain at the shelter—a pet stays available for adoption for as long as needed to find a loving home. Founded in 1868 by noted humanitarian Thomas Lamb Eliot, OHS is the fourth-oldest humane society in the nation. Eliot initially established OHS to stop the neglect and abuse of draft animals. The mission expanded to include companion animals and, until 1933, orphaned children.

But treating teachers has its challenges. Teachers battle to give up control and accept the role of a patient. Treatment providers need to be sensitive to this issue and work to earn their trust. Teachers in treatment also usually have guilt associated with 'abandoning their students,' so the need for them to take care of themselves so they can take care of others needs to be highlighted. "Additionally, teachers are apprehensive about how HR will view their time off to receive treatment for substance use disorders and if they will be accepted back as teachers after successful completion of treatment," added Dr. Cidambi. Working as a team with their HR or EAP to alleviate such concerns helps teachers to access treatment in a timely manner and complete it successfully.

"There's nothing more gratifying than running through the St. Jude campus and actually seeing the patients and their families cheering you on," said Muhammad. "I can't wait for all of NBMA to experience the love."

The NBMA will also support the hospital through the annual St. Jude Walk/Run in September. This year, the St. Jude Walk/Run will take place in 63 communities nationwide during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Turn Heads with Tools Right for the Job

When it comes to essential tools, influencers collectively mentioned lawn mowers, lawn edgers, leaf blowers and string trimmers as top of the list for keeping a well-manicured yard. Crisp lines, evenly trimmed greenery and debris-free spaces are just a few of the simple but impactful benefits these tools provide to homes' curb appeal.

According to Schanen, no matter what type of yard or curb appeal needs you have, it all comes down to keeping it basic and attainable. "Sometimes all it takes is a cleanly cut edge to make even an imperfect lawn look great."

The renewable energy certificate provided by NZECS allows consumers of electricity to purchase certification for the particular type and volume of electricity generation they value. So whilst Garage Project's brewery isn't directly plugged into the turbine, the electricity used is matched on an annual basis with 100% renewable energy generated from Meridian's Brooklyn Turbine.

Having an understanding of how electricity is generated allows consumers to consider the environmental impact of electricity generation, enabling them to make an active choice to which generator to partner with.

Garage Project co-founder, Jos Ruffell, says they're proud to be the first to use Meridian's certified renewable energy mark made possible by Meridian's participation in the NZECS.

"It's important to set an example and show you can be in business and do your bit for sustainability too. We can brew the beer we love, be sustainable, and celebrate Wellington, the city we love. Turbine™ Pale Ale is all of these things."

Based on interactions and needs, the hospital dogs will see an average of four to six patients a day, with plenty of rest breaks in between.

Huckleberry and Puggle were trained by Canine Assistants, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that has trained service dogs since 1991 and has placed dogs in hospitals for more than 10 years. The dogs were specially matched with their St. Jude Child Life handlers.

"Canine Assistants trains these dogs from the time they are eight weeks old to be placed in hospitals," said Child Life program director Shawn Brasher. "Their training is a bond-based approach, which recognizes the importance of a secure attachment as the most effective way to ensure goals of safety, effectiveness and well-being of the dogs."

Puggle and Huckleberry will have lots of bonds at St. Jude, and especially with their handlers. When Puggle and Huckleberry are not at work, they live at their primary handlers' houses, relaxing and playing with other members of the family.

The work day of Huckleberry and Puggle will be featured on Instagram: @stjudepaws.

UPDATE 6/30/2019

Our original application was submitted to the Stem Cell Institute in Panama in November of 2017. We were approved at the time and started raising the required money. It felt incredible to reach our goal. When we first started raising money the goal seemed to be almost unattainable. It took us over a year of hard work and effort from a huge assortment of people that we’re blessed to have in our lives to make it to our goal. Then upon reapplication to the Stem Cell Institute we were hit with some terrible news. For some reason, although my injury was over 10 years old at the time that I filed the original application, my second application got rejected on the basis of my injury being over 10 years old. It was pretty devastating after working so hard. Not only was it hard because I had so many high hopes, it was hard because I felt like I was letting so many people down.

I’m not the type of person who lets external forces keep me down though. I have to believe that the universe has a plan for me. With that mindset I started exploring other options. Up to this point everything that I’ve found is either not nearly as promising, or quite a bit more expensive. And that brings us to where we are today. It’s been difficult but I still refuse to give up. I know that one day things will turn out just the way they’re supposed to. To me the only way to live your life is in a state of joy and positivity and that’s what I am going to continue to do.

I’m working on what exactly they will be, when they will happen, and how to pull them off. But if this journey has taught me one thing, it’s that there are goals in life we’ve been told are impossible, though there are ways to make the impossible, possible.

So no matter what dreams you have for your life, I hope this national parks journey has shown you that they are attainable. Have you always wanted to work your family farm? Start your own business? Focus on raising a family?

Whatever goals you have, I encourage you to pursue them now, because whether it’s visiting all of America’s 419 National Park Service sites or whatever vision you have, tomorrow could be too late, so start chasing your dreams today!

Thank you all for being part of this journey being successful. I could not have done it without you.

So let this photo of a completed route at the Lincoln Memorial be one of celebration for you. For everything we accomplished together. For this not being an “I journey,” but a “WE journey.”

I spoke about it a few years ago when Henri Brooks had her episode my before Ferguson and all that other mess went down, and from many and some blacks they didn't agree with what I said, some thought that what I was saying was ridiculous, my response to them was this, " The fact of the matter is that you and her supporters are so far gone in complete support of this racist that you don't even see her true colors. And its honesty from me are you kidding me. This is the truth about this woman period. The fact that people including miss Sawyer who is so like the millennial version of Brooks to a moderate extent is pretty interesting. She would rather coddle the rioters and tell the media that this was not a riot. Then to say you know what happened last night was unacceptable it should have never happen this was a riot and an attack on our law enforcement. But I guarantee you she won't she's only doing this just to get votes for October she is a political opportunity and in the eyes are progressive Millennials in this County she is seen as the future of Shelby County socialism in my honest believe. We definitely need to start holding our elected officials and candidates accountable. That will transcend into the public. At the end of the day, we need to continue to support them but let this be a learning lesson for us. And, we also at time need to hear both sides of the political coin to say the least LOL. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THIS WOMAN LIED ABOUT WHERE SHE LIVED NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, BUT THREE TIMES. She's a Separatist, Narcissist, and Antagonist and has the "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN" Mentality. PERIOD!!!!

The media has also got to take some form of ownership into this. Now they will not be responsible for happened to the boy brought that on himself. And the attacks on them, the protesters, pretty much wanted to be there more because they would be ease your targets them law enforcement. Whenever there's a situation that is highly intense they are not going to go after the police because it's easier for them to provoke them into something then it is for them to respond when they have nothing. So what do they go after the people with the cam is doing the jobs and just let them have any meetings there are whether they are male or female they're easy targets to go after.

It's funny how we in the black race always say that we don't tolerate racism, we don't believe in racism, and we don't be support racism. But yet, WE PRACTICE IT, PREACH IT, AND DAMN SURE PROMOTE RACISM both outside of our race and definitely inside of our race. We claim that we don't tolerate racism and support and believe in the racist ideology "We don't practice what we preach, and if we don't practice what we preach then we don't mean what the HELL we teach" In other words, we are not leading, showing, and teaching by example to the next generation and the next generation will do the exact same thing if the cycle of teaching racism doesn't stop. I haven't old saying those that came that they are the most tolerant are really the most intolerant and those that we claim that on the most intolerant are really the most tolerant.

Brandon Webber supporters don't want to know about all that has happened because they have the "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN" Mentality just like him and they believe that he's just innocent guy that was killed on just leave by the police. When everyone that that looks like him to a certain extent knows and their heart that he bought this on himself. It's a shame that he lost his life a 20 year old and it's a shame that three kids one who was born the he was killed won't get a chance to know that father but you know what and I honestly hate to say this but he died doing what he loved. Anyone that enable his behavior and anyone that supported behavior especially firing on law enforcement and don't want to see his true colors then they realize within themselves that they are becoming who they hated meaning they are becoming their own worst enemies.

We always say Black Lives Matter and no justice no peace and all that other blase whenever something like this goes down once in a full moon. But we never want to protest and get all up in arms when someone that looks like you and someone that looks like me takes a gun and shoots someone over Petty mess like for example money cars women. We don't want to get up in arms when a young child is sexually assaulted or rape by someone that looks like them or somebody else. But we love to go after someone who doesn't look like us or who wears the uniform of law enforcement we all love to go get all up in arms and protects them and even calling for their heads on a silver platter and for the deaths and assaults of their spouses and children. It amazes me to this day that we can get 10 to 15,000 people to block traffic on a bridge but we can't get 200 people to a stop the violence rally. It doesn't matter to them a black life taken by another black life is almost irrelevant and almost seen as invisible in the black community. Because who else is invisible in the BC more than another black person who takes the life of another black person. But if you take the life of a black person and you don't look like the people in the community then you're an easier Target to go after. We always say black lives matter but the question that black people have never asked themselves is do black lives matter to black people. If they sit back and think silently for one minute without saying nothing I guarantee you, their silence speaks volumes if they can't respond to it. Every time something like this happens it's a temporary escape from their reality a reality in which they know the threat of those who look like them are bigger than those who are protecting and serving them however those that are law enforcement or those that are of a different race mainly White will have to face intense criticism scrutiny and some cases a price on their head which we have seen in recent years.

The value of black life is almost non-existent because of the years of self-degradation, self mass extermination and even self expulsion when it comes to the idea of black life in the United States. Not to mention it sends a clear message to those who are of the mainstream in the public even black Americans who want nothing to do with it that it's better for them to figure it out on their own and said disrupting the rest of mainstream America into feeling sorry for these people who complain about life not being fair and who have dug themselves into a deeper hole because they don't want to ask the question of how do I get myself out of this mess especially if I was born into it. And the sad part about it is many of those who say black lives matter and those social justice activist groups do not want to ask the question of why do we do this to each other.

Book a Call with Us

Would you like to talk with us first? Tell us when!

So my question is Where Is Your Self-dignity, Where's Your Self-respect, Where The Hell Is Your Damn Self-Worth and the sad part about it is they don't even know how to get themselves out I have become so used to this way of life the day don't even think about life getting better but only getting worse. And if anyone brings any type of change into their way of life for the better, it is seen as a negative. I tell my friends who don't look like me this all the time and even repeatedly you cannot enable this Behavior because if you do you're only saying to them you can push me around and get away with it because if I fight back or tell the truth about you, you can easily use the racial history in this country as a way of getting over Leverage to make your life even more miserable than mine economically culturally socially and financially.

A little tough love will not hurt anyone it will make them think and ask for themselves if someone like me said some things that are truthful and brutal it will cause the whole world that they've believed in four years to collapse but it will make them think. However, if someone that doesn't look like me said the stuff that I said it will be seen as racially insensitive and as I always say it goes in one ear and goes out the other plain and simple. And finally the more attention that the media social media and politicians give these people the more we are basically enabling future rounds of domestic terrorism and threats of harm against all law enforcement and general public not to mention the indoctrination stops saying one life has more value than the other life when in reality all lines have value but if that one life doesn't show value in it that's when the superiority complex kicks in in that life that feels like it has no value in the eyes of society. And what we are saying from the black community in situations like this is a superiority complex when they're feeling down in the inferiority complex with a fueling up and when the both are combinated simultaneously it can lead to a dangerous combustion which we have seen in multiple cities in multiple States over the last six to seven years.

We always talk about race relations between blacks and whites, the black community(BC) and law enforcement but yet we as black people never talk about race relations within our own race because whether black people wanna hear it or not we are a race that is racially divided on all levels, and all characteristics. You always say that the police are hurting the BC but you don't want to say why you call the police when someone breaks into your house and assaults but yet when someone else call the police the first thing you do is pull out your phone camera to see if they're going to do something wrong you're two faced you don't want to admit it. Instead of saying that the police are going to kill you which is basically building problems why don't you encourage them to become part of the solution at the change law enforcement from within for the better. And while you're out and about when you see a police officer tell them thank you for your service and thank you for what you doing for who you are as people I can guarantee you that no matter what they're going to that will make your day a lot better and maybe do a serve a cop in your house you know and invite them to your house and give them a nice cook meal people do it all the time and they're communities I know y'all can So before we call for others to respecting us or respect our backyard we got your own house in the first. Because our own backyard is in real horrible shape from the fence, to the dirt. And, it's not joke. We need to do better or we are continuing to fall far being the surface and even worse that could lead our race as a whole to self destruction or even full mass extermination of an entire race of people. My race. Wake up Black People

Thank You and Sincerely,

Jimmie C. Williams, Jr.
