About

Megan Barry is a dedicated community leader, former elected official, and candidate for Congress, committed to improving the lives of Tennesseans. Raised in Kansas as the daughter of a Marine and a stay-at-home mom, she pursued her education at Baker University and Vanderbilt University, earning her MBA.

Barry's political career began on Nashville’s Metro Council, where she served two terms before becoming the first woman elected as Mayor of Nashville/Davidson County. During her tenure, she championed initiatives aimed at enhancing transportation, reducing youth violence through job creation, and fostering public-private partnerships, notably bringing professional soccer to Nashville.

Following the tragic loss of her son, Max, to a drug overdose, Barry has become a vocal advocate against the stigma surrounding substance use disorder, sharing her personal experiences to support others facing similar challenges. She lives in Nashville with her husband, Bruce, a Vanderbilt professor, and their two rescue dogs. Through her campaign, Barry aims to address critical issues such as healthcare access, education, and gun violence, striving to represent the values and needs of her community.
