LaDell Beamon, a Memphis native, is the CEO of the Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis. Raised by his mother and grandmother, Beamon discovered early on the transformative power of the arts and dedicated his talents in writing, acting, directing, and producing to uplift youth and communities. Troubled by the negative influence of media, he sought to create positive alternatives, launching projects like The Wiz Returns and the acclaimed Tales of the Mystic Medallion, which premiered at the 2002 Memphis Indie Film Festival. His groundbreaking initiatives—including The Heal the Hood Project, the anti-racism film You Are the Rainbow, and Signs of the Stage, addressing AIDS—showcase his creative drive for social change. Through The Wake Up Tour, Beamon has inspired over 70,000 youth, using arts and media to confront violence, drugs, and peer pressure. Guided by a spiritual purpose, he remains deeply committed to healing, uplifting, and empowering his community, one story at a time.
